Kind of a Theft by Deception.

In August of 2022, I saw the promo for a $1000 trade-in for preordering a Samsung 4 Flip or Samsung 4 Fold. My wife and I went to the local AT&T store to check on the promo. The store assistant said both of our phones (Samsung 9+) qualified and we could keep our plan and we also get free phone cases.  So we ordered the phones a Flip 4 and a Fold 4. Once we placed the order the assistant said they did not have the cases in the store and we would need to go online to get them. I went online and through a chat session I was told we could only get them if we order online, I went back to the store and canceled the order then went online and order the phones with a $1000 rebate on both phones plus free cases. The website never indicated I did not qualify for the promo. The phones arrived I shipped the S9+'s to AT&T. They received and processed the phones. I have waited for 4 months to start seeing the credit on my bill, but no credit to this date. I go online and through a chat session they say I don't qualify. I asked to speak to a supervisor all he did was what looked like copy and paste the same answer. I requested many times to talk on the phone because it is easier for me than trying to type. Finally, they said they would call me in 5 - 10 minutes they never did. I'm just trying to resolve this but they will not talk and they have my two phones (theft). I will be contacting my state's Attorney General Consumer Protection Division if AT&T does not make voice contact with me. Has anyone else had this type of problem?

What reason did they give for not qualifying? I can't speak for August, but today the 9+ is valid for at least $350, so even if the $1,000 wasn't true, you should at least get that. Do you have a qualifying unlimited plan?

If you upgraded, signed in as a customer on the AT&T website, it very clearly tells you whether or not you have a plan that qualifies.

If you qualified, it would have given you the green message as this photo...

Sample...

But if you upgraded and did not have a qualifying plan, or for a new customer and picked a non-qualifying plan you would get the little warning triangle as in this photo...
Either Look familiar?
You might have added what plan you have?
All of the promotions require an unlimited data plan with a base price for one line of $75. The unlimited data plans that qualify include the 2016 unlimited data plan with TV service, the 2017 unlimited data plan, unlimited plus and choice, unlimited plus and choice enhanced, unlimited premium and unlimited premium and more, the unlimited starter, extra, elite, and premium.
Metered plans and the Legacy Unlimited and the current unlimited value plan do not qualify

ATT Social media specialist called me and we worked together to resolve the issue.
