Asurion Insurance Claims are Total Scams and AT&T/Asurion are Both Dishonest and Screw You as Badly as Possible

AT&T's customers are unaware of the 15-day return policy for the damaged device when they file a claim with Asurion. Asurion goes out of their way to make sure they don't mention this anywhere but the fine print. Then they charge you $850, keep the $250 deductible, they keep the old device, and the premiums. Total scam. They belong in jail. If you file a claim I suggest you educate yourself so you don't get scammed by this fraudulent process designed to confuse you then exploit you and steal your money. At&t then claims they have nothing to do with Asurion when you complain. Asurion won't even take your calls after the claim is closed. The little guy gets screwed every time. They're liars and criminals. AT&T has chosen to work with this partner and they work together to screw you as badly as they can. Someday there will be a (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines) against these pieces of human garbage.

If you simply report the device stolen or lost then you won't have to return the old device and they can't charge you an additional $850 for not returning it. Don't let yourself be penalized for being honest.

I've been with AT&T since 2006. I pay around $6,000 per year to AT&T. I have 6 lines with data plans with AT&T. Still, they were unwilling to help me in this case. I HATE AT&T NOW AND PLAN TO SWITCH CARRIERS BECAUSE OF THIS AND AT&T DOESN'T CARE AT ALL. GO TO (Edited per community guidelines) ALL OF YOU THAT'S WHERE YOU BELONG.

Just because you were unaware of the procedures for filing an insurance claim doesn't mean "AT&T customers" are or that you weren't made aware. Mobile phone insurance isn't a great product, but it's certainly not a scam.

Every other cell phone company uses Asurion as the insurance provider and any of them would have had the same reaction to your situation.

I had a similar issue. I returned the device in 4 days, they gave me 10. They claimed they never got the device, and charged me $275. Fought for 3 months and never got anywhere.  They still blamed me and said I kept the device. I get the run around from AT&T and Asurion, started in November of 2021 and here it is end of Feb and I'm giving up, I CAN NOT get anywhere with either company. Asurion is a joke. I'm (Edited per community guidelines) about it, and (Edited per community guidelines) I'm out $275.

@MicCheck it is in fact a scam. I don't know if you're aware, but if you repair/replace your iPhone's screen through AT&T / Asurion the faceID will no longer work. Bear in mind that this is one of the most used features on the iPhone.

The insurance is essentially useless if they can't fix the one thing that is most likely to break on this phone without disabling one of its most critical features.

Mobile insurance is expensive for what it does. Mobile insurance is a monopoly. For that reason I have self-insured for decades. Just because I don't like it and don't use it doesn't mean other people don't swear by it. Apparently some are very klutzy.

Without insurance, you are responsible to both: pay off your loan, and purchase a replacement device. Financially that has worked out better for me than buying Insurance especially at the current rate of premiums and deductibles.   But in 25 years we have had only 3 or 4 losses, and none cost much to replace.

Asurion is not AT&T! Or Verizon, Amazon, etc.

I have never seen anyone claim that they did not know they had a limited time to return their old phone. Whether it's a warranty through AT&T or Apple, or an insurance claim with Asurion everyone I've ever see comment is aware they have a limited window to post the package.

@DDSCINGULAR That's an Apple issue and affects most, if not all, 3rd party repair services. My understanding is that iOS 15.2 fixed that issue, anyway.
