Samsung Galaxy s9 unlock after factory reset

I have an unlock code form AT&T and the device has been factory reset. The PDF instructions say to put a non-AT&T SIM in to reset it but I am preparing to sell it on eBay and have no SIM. I just want it unlocked for the buyer. Is there a way to unlock it before the sale?

Hello @gewickey, we're happy to provide information on the steps to take to unlock your device.

If your device displays PUK2 or PUK blocked call operator, then the wrong PUK code was entered 10 or more times in a row. The SIM card is blocked and must be replaced.

  • Once the unlock code has been provided to you, you will need to place a Non-AT&T SIM card into the device and follow the instructions provided in the PDF.
  • Another option is to provide the unlock code along with the device, when the device is ready to be activated.

After inserting the Non-AT&T SIM, it will ask for the unlock code. Enter the code that was provided to unlock the associated device to trigger the Unlock pop up. This is the process in order to activate the device to another carrier. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

Try this (without a Sim card)

This should have been done before you did a factory reset as you need access to the phone app.  I'm sure you have to partially set up a device and connect to home Wi-Fi then try it.

Open phone app and type

#7465625*638*

This should bring up box for the code.

CODE# (CODE is the Unlock Code ATT sent you)

Or all at once

#7465625*638*CODE# (CODE is the Unlock Code ATT sent you)

If neither work, stop!

Borrow a Sim card from someone on t-mo or verizon

Thanks... I will try the code above and if that fails, I will sell the phone with the UNLOCK code provided. That should suffice...
