My Own Modem/Router

I am looking at options concerning my Internet service. One thing I would like to do is to replace the 2-Wire gateway provided with AT&T with one that I purchase. Is that possible? If so, what are some recommendations? If Not, why? Thanks.

Sorry but you cannot replace the gateway.

@skeeterintexas Thanks. Is there a particular reason why?

If you have an older model gateway you can ask for a newer model. If service is working keep what you have. You can add a third party router behind the gateway to handle routing within your home network and provide WiFi. If you want to do that tell us what gateway you have.

It’s required for your service to work. You can get your own router and set it up behind the 2wire but you can’t replace it.
