How to get AT&T fiber be turned on for neighborhood when fiber was laid 5 years ago
I am a HOA Board member for the Oaks At Oxfordshire Neighborhood in Mint Hill, NC and AT&T dug up our yards and laid fiber thoughout the entire neighborhood 5 years ago. However only a couple of houses in the neighborhood have it turned on. Several of the Board members have called AT&T Customer Service repeatedly but no one can tell us who we can contact to get the situation rectified so that it is available for all residents. We have tried to contact the person who led the installation who was subcontracted by AT&T but he is unable to help us. How do we get this fixed?

Hi @Arebello, thank you for your interest in AT&T Fiber Internet.
AT&T Internet is not available in all areas, but AT&T is working to change that! On our web site on, when is AT&T fiber going to be available, you will find information explaining:
Are you the property owner or represent your neighborhood (HoA president) and want to get AT&T Fiber for your area. Learn more about how to bring fiber to your property.
Thank you for contacting us on AT&T Community Forums!

What I don’t understand is why would AT&T bury the fiber in all of our yards 5 years ago but not turn it on. It’s not like you need to run new fiber through the neighborhood. It is already there. The HOA link provided by ATT Help above appears to be only for condos and apartment buildings.

There is more to fiber service than laying fiber in a neighborhood. Infrastructure connected to the fiber needs to be in place as well. It’s possible budgets cuts or changes to fiber plans stopped the full deployment in your area.
Fill out the form. You have nothing to lose by doing so.

@Arebello no it is the same link you would use. Just needs to be filled out by someone on the HOA board.
Where in the neighborhood are the few houses that have Fiber available. You can use this link to check any address so start with 1 you know has fiber and search a few addresses either direction to see where service stops. It does not need to be turned on as you say just show that Fiber is available at an address.
http://www.att.com/availability
You will be able to use those as example of addresses that do qualify for Fiber as you check on the rest of the area.

Thanks for the suggestions. This has been quite frustrating hitting dead ends over the past few years. I have completed the request selecting Condo because it only had two choices ( Apartment or Condo). I am the HOA President and I used my contact info and address for the form. I know a couple of homes in the neighborhood have it because one of those is our Board Treasurer.

It is not about a couple of homes having Fiber it is a case of figuring out where it stops in your neighborhood and using that as a reference when working with AT&T.
Normally it stops at a street or street corner intersection. It is also possible that the few homes that have Fiber have Business Service.
Use the link I provided above and check their addresses to see what services are offered to new customers at that address that may explain the current situation.

Dave, that’s interesting. I used the link you provided to look up availability for our Treasurer's house to try and find the boundary of availability as you suggested and it says fiber is not available for his address. I then contacted him to ask if he had Business Service and he responded that to his knowledge he has Consumer Service. He certainly has AT&T fiber so I am not sure where things are crossed up.

Look his address up again. Then click on the tab that says set up new service. You will then see the speeds available. Post a picture of the speeds available to his home.

@Arebello that is clearly a database issue. How about the addresses on either side of the treasurer's house just to confirm?
How far away is his address from you?
Also could you share a couple of pictures of what AT&T installed in the yards? Are they little pedestals or in-ground boxes with green molded covers or concrete covers.
Just want to verify what is actually installed and then get you linked to a contact that can work the problem.
