I got my new cell booster. Why am I still only getting one “bar” for service?

New cell booster activated but still not getting full “bars”- only getting one bar.

We'd be more than happy to look into why you are not getting a good signal strength @Jmonette62!

Signal Loss can be the result of many factors. Here are a few tips that can help your signal strength.

Environmental Factors - Dead Zones

  • Move away from dead-zone(s) in your home, near a window or area without electronics.
Dead Zones are areas in your home that are affected by your surroundings and environment that lowers your signal strength.

  • Trees, concrete buildings, etc. can reduce signal strength.

Time of day

Sometimes, during peak times, AT&T may slow down speed to keep everyone connected. Also, if you see a drop in service, or slow speeds, at a specific time, this could indicate another issue, like equipment around you emitting interference. It could also mean something on your device is causing issues. We suggest restarting your device to refresh your connection to our network.

You can also try troubleshooting your cell booster to see if this helps your signal strength improve.

  • Navigate to the bottom of the page and click "Go" to start troubleshooting.

Please let us know if this information was useful or if you need additional assistance.

Your not the only one mine will go from 1 bar to 4 than none. Drains my battery searching and I am on WiFi support is worthless they keep giving me the run around. Only time it works is when the bottom light flashes.

Why this answer was marked as correct an official is beyond me. None of that reply has anything whatsoever to do with a MicroCell or the new "cell booster" which is actually just an LTE MicroCell.

@formerlyknownas I agree. The ATTHelp response is not an official solution, or really a solution at all.

@Jmonette62 and @Mon8710  The LTE will flash white when someone has connected to the Cell Booster and is on a call. Only WiFi should be enabled, not WiFi-C (WiFi Calling). You may have to move the Cell Booster around to find the sweet spot in your home if the in-coming cellular signal fluctuates enough in strength that the phone (depending on the phone) doesn't know which connection to use (the strongest signal) and is constantly searching for either the stronger cellular signal (in-coming) or WiFi-C. Read my Tech Guide, link is in my sig line.

Thing is the Antenna that comes with it has to be attached to the window so moving it is not an option. Do you even have the new cell booster? Plus when on a call or text during the flashing mode if it stops than our calls fail and so does the text.

@Mon8710 Yes. I have been testing the new Cell Booster for quite some time now. I also have all of the MicroCells that AT&T released since they were first introduced over 10 years ago. I do have a fair amount of knowledge about AT&T's femtocell, certainly more than most of Support. That's why I wrote the MicroCell Technical Guide and have updated it to the Cell Booster Technical Guide.

If you read my Guide, you'd know that it is possible to add an extension cable to the antenna to extend its length. AT&T claims that once registration and activation is achieved, and your Cell Booster is ready to go, you can remove the antenna. I don't recommend that but you can neatly coil up the antenna and tuck it behind the Cell Booster, keeping it connected though. My Cell Booster is on the other side of the room from the window, with the antenna behind it and works just fine. Unfortunately, signal propagation seems to be more sensitive with regards to location in your home and construction interference. Which is probably due to the inherent difference in 3G and LTE. Similar to 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi strength and propagation.

@Mon8710

If @OttoPylot  doesn't have an answer, for sure At&t doesn't.   He's written guides for the old M-cell, cell booster, and the new "cell booster"   LTE MicroCell.

@formerlyknownas I wonder how we can get the "blue" official solution tag removed?

What is the extension cable your referring too and is it called and where can I get one?

Read my Tech Guide for the type of extension and then Google for where you can get it. That's one of the reasons I wrote and keep the Guide updated so you don't have to keep coming here and wait for an answer.

Please keep your question to one thread and don't post to multiple threads.
