Cell phone booster

I have an old cell phone booster, which I have learned is outdated. Newer boosters were sent out. I did not receive one. How do I get an upgraded booster. My old booster is at least 10 years old. It would be nice if AT&T cared about their older clients and send them the boosters first. I've been told they are out, and have no idea when they will be in stock. I asked about a waiting list to no avail. I'm very disappointed since I have been a loyal customer of AT&T for many years.

@noopy  WiFi-C usually works a lot better, and is much more secure, than the Cell Booster, which is not really secure. When I'm done testing and evaluating the Cell Booster I will probably switch back to WiFi-C. WiFi-C uses the same ports that the MicroCell did so the only deciding factors are one, how good your WiFi connection is and two, your phone. Make sure that WiFi is enabled as well as WiFi-C. If you ever do get a Cell Booster, disable WiFi-C but keep WiFi enabled. They are not the same thing.

Unfortunately the free replacement program has ended and there is currently no stock for them to hand out or for purchase. They will be in stock for purchase fairly soon.

If you had an active microcell you should have gotten a free one sent to you if your email and physical address on file were correct. If you didn't they're not doing this anymore unfortunatly. The demise of the microcell along side the 3g network has been discussed here for years so none of this should have been a surprise. AT&T sent physical mailers, emails and text messages saying this was gonna happen. I started getting them about 3 years ago.

When they get inventory they should show up on their product page for it here first.

That said, the preferred method is now WiFi-C or wifi-calling, most phones that are newer than 5 years old support this and you simply turn it on in your phones settings nothing to buy or setup from at&t's side. More reliable than the "booster" and works anywhere you have no cell signal and wifi not just where the booster is setup.

@noopy  See my Cell Booster Tech Guide, link is in my sig line, for all things related to the Cell Booster. @73blazer is correct, which is pretty much what I've been saying for weeks now. All you can do now is just wait till they go on sale, probably first online and then at the Corporate Stores and reseller outlets. Once the inventory is sufficient for sales, contact Support and politely tell them what happened and MAYBE they can get a free one to you. AT&T did that for a period of time with the MicroCell on a case by case basis so hopefully they will do the same thing with the Cell Booster. No guarantees though.

@ATTHelp  That answer, which is not "signed" by you is totally useless. The "help" you provided has been explained in much better detail by myself and some others.

@ATTHelp , Jonye, again that is a useless response because the information has been posted ad naseum on this forum by myself and others.  What would be helpful is to tell the posters, who couldn't get thru the broken weblink, how they can now get the free Cell Booster they were promised.

I never received any notification. They could have put it in my wireless bill and I would have seen it. I try not to go on the att website. I had my micro cell for over 10 years, haven’t changed address, etc. I called when I noticed I was getting a lot of dropped calls here at home. That’s when I was told there was a new booster. I have switched to WiFi calling but my WiFi signal isn’t that great either. I’m still waiting for fiber-optic. Thanks for your comments. I guess I’ll just wait and see or change carriers.

Thank you for your reply, !

We apologize for any missed notifications you didn't receive. In the meantime, try to continue using WiFi-Calling and power cycle your device off and turn it back on to refresh your connection. Don't forget to check back in for updates. Please let us know if you have additional questions!

I received and installed one of the new cell phone boosters.  However, the GPS wire, which has a magnetic port (very tiny) keeps popping out and disconnecting.  I have made several calls to AT&T CS but no one seems to know anything about the booster or even wants to help me with it.  Any ideas of who to call?

@cp876  Magnetic port? The GPS cable is an MMX connector that will snap or click into place if properly seated. It just pushes into place and clicks.
