Cell Booster

So ordered the new cell booster to replace my old one for free like they said. Never got it so I called today. Now they say I have to pay for it because they ran out of the free ones almost $300 really! Not gonna happen I will go with someone else else for my phone service. That is great service, Not!

Did you order it thru the weblink, that was always broken, in the email you received or did you just call? There was a big disconnect within AT&T on how the "orders" were handled. Supply exceeded demand very early on so the free program was discontinued in late March.

Can you  do WiFi-C (WiFi Calling), which is really the preferred method for improving in-home coverage? Does your current phone meet the AT&T post-3G requirements for LTE (HD Voice capable <VoLTE>)? The Cell Booster is LTE only so your phone needs to meet those requirements.

I have the I phone 13 pro max. I live in the country and my wifi calling isn't working good out here at all! Sometimes I can't even get a text to go through and dropped calls Continuous!

Ok. You phone meets the requirements, that's good. Who is your ISP and what kind of service do you have if you live in the country? WiFi-C should work well if you have a robust WiFi setup. Do you leave WiFi enabled all of the time (which is different than WiFi-C)? WiFi will allow all data to use your WiFi connection leaving voice for WiFi-C only.

I have fiber optic internet 100/25 Mbps through PSC. Changed it today to 300/50Mbps to see if that would help. I have 1 signal bar out here most the time and sometimes none!

Hi Vanessajune, we are here to answer your cell booster inquiry!

The cell booster offer has ended, we currently do not offer any free cell booster replacement devices. You can purchase our cell booster directly from our AT&T website. We recommend Wi-Fi calling as our ACE suggested. Learn more about staying connected with Wi-Fi calling, you'll need:

  • A Wi-Fi internet connection
  • A compatible AT&T Wireless phone or AT&T Prepaid phone with Wi-Fi turned on and an eligible plan
  • An AT&T Wireless or AT&T Prepaid account set up for HD Voice

Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Ok. PSC is FTTH (Fiber To The Home) so it's not satellite or wireless broadband, which is why I asked. Do you have to rent your equipment from PSC or can you purchase your own router?

Did your MicroCell work well with the PSC fiber?

If you disable WiFi and WiFi-C on your phone and go outside, what kind of cellular signal does your phone display?

WiFi-C is Wifi Calling. Did you setup WiFi-C correctly? Settings -> Cellular -> Wi-Fi Calling -> On, and then put in your physical address for the FCC E911 requirement?

What are your actual speeds? You can use the SpeedTest app to determine that. The 100/25 or 300/50 speeds on your plan is "up to" not actual.

After setting up WiFi-C, did you power cycle your phone (turn it completely off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on).  Have you checked with AT&T to make sure your line is provisioned for HD Voice?

I bought my own router, it is a night hawk.  I did the speed test it showed 254.9Mbps and 48.3 Mbps. I was having issues with my phone when in the beginning with no signal and called att and they walked me through the wifi calling. If I turn off my wifi and wifi calling I have no signal at all.

Based on your dropped calls concern, we want to get you in a Direct Message Vanessajune. Check the message icon in the upper portion of the page and reply back.

In the meantime, we want to include some steps that may help with your dropped calls:

  1. Confirm your wireless coverage to check the type of network available in your area.
  2. Reset your network settings to refresh your connection to our towers. You'll need to navigate to Settings app>General>Reset>Reset network settings.
  3. Disconnect mobile hotspot on your cellphone device as it is known to interfere with your cellular data connection.
  4. Check out our helpful troubleshoot & resolve tool to help fix your drop call service concern.

Please keep in mind that in areas of limited/no coverage we recommend:

If this does not help, we'd love to troubleshoot your services on our end, again keep an eye out for our DM.
