Cell booster issues

The new cell booster is worthless and so is support. I have made several phone calls did everything they told me yet it still dropping phone calls won’t pick up4g unless the cell light is blinking and draining my battery yet I have WiFi call.

If I recall, @OttoPylot  has been suggesting not to have both wifi calling and the cell booster on at the same time.

I will agree that support is useless, just like they were for the previous Microcell devices. Most people can manage to use Wi-Fi calling or regular cell service without the need for an additional device.

You may have a dud, or may have set it up incorrectly.

As far as being worthless, everyone who has it up and working has been very impressed with its range and reliability.

@Mon8710 , I agree with what @formerlyknownas stated as far as Support and setup.

1. How do you have it setup?

2. What kind of phone?

3. WiFi should be enabled but WiFi-C (WiFi Calling) disabled.

4. Can you enable your phone for LTE only?

5. The LTE light on the Cell Booster should be flashing white if you, or someone, is connected to the Cell Booster and making/receiving a call.

This is all covered in my Cell Booster Tech Guide, link is in my sig line.

1 I have ave it setup exactly how I was told.

2 2 iPhone

3 only have WiFi calling.

4 no I can not do Lte only if we do we have to stand outside and in the middle of our street to call or text.

5 it does flash whiling and off but if flashing while on it than it stops so does the call and text it’s dropped. The new one works nothing like the mcell we had.

@Mon8710 What model of iPhone and iOS? We have various iPhones from 7 upwards and they all work just fine with the MicroCell (when it was active), the Cell Booster, and WiFi-C.

How do you have the Cell Booster setup (who told you how to set it up) and who is your ISP? Have you read my Tech Guide?

The latest iOS and mine is the XR and my husband maybe an earlier model. Support service through the ATT phone number that came with the cell booster a month ago. In fact I went through them at 2 different levels of help and still nothing, I just think my booster is not working correctly be it’s messed up. If my older version worked with my phones than new one should as well.

@Mon8710 In theory yes, but it is possible that you received a broken one. Unlikely, but possible.

Your phones don't support 5G so you can not select which band to use like you could before. My wife has an iPhone 7 and when she goes to Cellular in Settings, there is nothing to choose anymore. Her phone, like yours, will default to LTE. Mine is an iPhone 12 with 5G service (which I don't use). I can select 5G On, 5G Auto, or LTE. I use LTE because 5G is just not reliable in my are. WiFi-C is disabled and WiFi is always enabled.

Your Cell Booster should have been registered to the phone number of whichever one of you "owns" the cellular account. Just like the MicroCell was. I'm assuming that your Cell Booster is connected directly with an ethernet cable from the yellow WAN port on the Cell Booster to an open LAN port on the router, and that the antenna is firmly in place (clicks when seated properly) and the receiver end is either attached to a window or on the window sill.

Turn off (power down) the Cell Booster and turn off WiFi and WiFi-C on your phones. See what type of cellular connection your phone is registering. You may have to go outside if you have zero signal in your home. That will tell you what kind of cellular signal you have in your area. Mine reads 5Ge, which is just enhanced LTE.

Go back inside your home and power up the Cell Booster. Wait till all of the lights are a solid white. While close to the Cell Booster (same room), power down your phone completely (slide the power switch to Off). Wait about 15-20 seconds and then turn your phone back on. Watch the cellular indicator on your phone while it searches for a signal and one, see what it indicates and two, see if the Cell Booster LTE light is flashing white. If all goes well, you should see full signal bar strength on the phone and the phone will indicate LTE. Turn WiFi back on.

Or...... power down the Cell Booster, leave WiFi enabled and enable WiFi-C. If connected to your WiFi, the phone should indicate AT&T WiFi. It's also not a bad idea to make sure that WiFi Assist is disabled if you don't use that. Settings -> Cellular and scroll all the way to the bottom.

The support team had me do everything you just mentioned here and still it will fluctuate from 4 bars to none which is why the battery will run down. Yes it is with an Ethernet. I was reading what you have and will read some more but so far everything you have written is what I have done except whatever your talking about on the cable/antenna thing.

@Mon8710 With the antenna firmly in place and attached to a window or window sill, what does the light pattern look like?

With WiFi and WiFi-C disabled, and the Cell Booster powered off, what is the cellular signal and strength in your home? And does it change as you move around your home?

If Support mentioned everything I did in my post above, then they are using my Tech Guide as a reference (which they are not really supposed to do as it is not an official AT&T document).

All whit lights and every now and than the bottom will flash for maybe couple minutes. With all turned off we are lucky to get lte 1 bar but not enough strength to get or call out. We actually have had to walk outside the house and stand in the street to see why internet was out.

@Mon8710 Please keep your questions to one thread only. It makes it difficult to reply to you and for other to Search for answers.

If all of the lights are a solid white, and you got a confirmation from AT&T that you were good to go then you're up and running. The flashing white LTE light means that you, or someone else within range is accessing the Cell Booster.

With the Cell Booster powered off, and with WiFi and WiFi-C disabled, what does your phone indicate as a cellular band when you go outside? And is it the same when you are inside?

Who is your ISP and what are your "up to" speeds supposed to be?

Have you done a Reset of your router/modem/gateway and have you Reset the Cell Booster?

What kind of router/modem/gateway do you have?
