Use wifi calling.

The LTE "booster" (not 5g, and it's a femtocell)  is currently available to those with active 3g MicroCell.  Not yet for sale, no word on when or if they'll be sold.

@jopibeck As mentioned above, WiFi-C (WiFi Calling) is the preferred connection method for improving poor in-home coverage. The Cell Booster, which is not a cellular booster but a femtocell like the MicroCell, will go on sale for $229 to the general public very soon. It will be 4G/LTE only. A 5G model, which is intended for first responders (FirstNet) and businesses will go on sale a little bit later on for $699.

If 5G coverage is spotty in your area I'd set your phone to LTE. That's what I do.

3/12/22 I have received a replacement 5G microcell booster for my 3G one from AT&T but it came with no instruction booklet on pairing with my iPhone and registration. Any help out there? Many thanks…

@PickleLady78 There are no 5G Cell Boosters. The Cell Booster and the Cell Booster Pro are both LTE. The Cell Booster Pro may offer 5G capability in the future but not now.

There is no "pairing" with the iPhone. If you have an iPhone 6 or greater, then it should connect automatically to LTE. Read my Cell Booster Technical Guide, link is in my sig line for all you need to know, for now, about the Cell Booster. There is a one page document that is included in the box with a QR code to scan that tells you how to register/activate the Cell Booster.

I thought I posted a comment but it must have evaporated. Thank you for answering. I just called the new booster a 5G as AT&T had said they would no longer support 3G as of 2/22/22 & my present booster would no longer work. A week later they offered a new booster as replacement. I accepted & did receive it. Have not connected it as there were no instructions. (With the old one I could add family & friend # online if they had AT&T). As of today 3/12 my old microcell is still working, giving full service.

@PickleLady78  Your MicroCell will stop working very soon. It’s taking a bit longer to shut down all the service areas down and close the MicroCell accounts.

I would strongly suggest you read my Tech Guide. There are changes with the new Cell Booster. The main one is that it is now an open system. Meaning that anyone with an AT&T phone that meets the new post-3G cellular requirements can connect to your Cell Booster if within range and you have no way of knowing who is connected. And the MicroCell alpha tag has been removed so you can’t tell if your phone is connected other than the LTE cellular indicator. The maximum number of simultaneous users is 8.

Thank you. First, how do I access your tech guide? Also there was no paper with a scan code included in the box with the microcell received. The AT&T customer service person I talked with could not give me any information on how to get the info. I have an iPhone 13Pro recently replacing a 10s.

Its the blue link below every one of his posts.   Literally says it's the Tech guide.

@PickleLady78 Check the box again. It could be underneath the inside container. There should be an ethernet cable, antenna, and power brick. There is also a scan code on the outside of the box that says scan me for the app instructions. You need to download the AT&T Cell Booster app and follow the instructions for registration/activation.

Make sure the Cell Booster is connected directly to your router, the GPS antenna is firmly in place (it should click when you insert it) and the antenna receiver is either attached to a window or on the window sill.

As mentioned above, the Tech Guide link is in my sig (signature) line.

@PickleLady78 Yup, I got no instructions or anything in the box either. But to get started, scan the QR code on the OUTSIDE of the box to get yourself launched on initial setup instructions and downloading the Cell Booster App. Use the cell booster app during the registration process to scan the blue sticker QR code affixed directly to the front of the Cell Booster when you open the box.

Once AT&T confirms *registration* in either e-mail or text, you're ready to plug in as OttoPylot instructed and start the booster. Once you do that and *everything* was done right, it can take up to half a day for it to light up all 5 lights solid white. But at that point, wait some more - a second message from AT&T again either via text or e-mail will congratulate you on successful *activation*. At this point you're ready to go and the booster should provide service.
