No acces at all with prepaid SIM.

Dear all,

i am for 2 weeks at holiday in the sates enjoying your beatiful country. Comin from germany I decided to buy an AT&T SIM 5G 5GB for 30 days. But there no access, no data, no calling. The SIM is recognized as unknown but the phone number is correctly shown.

Here a few Info of my phone:

Typ: Galaxy A53 5G
Model number: SM-A536B/DS
IMEI Slot1: (Edited as per community guidelines)

The error message I get ist >> nor registered to the network <<
I deactivated the automatic mode to search a network provider an choosed AT&T, tried different APN, did restarts, but nothing worked.
Any ideas, what to do? Help would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance and best regard

Thomas

The problem is likely your phone is not compatible with ATT’s network. Unless your phone is on ATT’s list of supported phones, it won’t work on ATT. Here’s the list, I don’t see your model:

Yup.   Phone would have worked on T-Mobile, or you'll have to replace the phone to use the plan that you've already purchased

Thanks to all for the fast answers.
Yes, so you confirmed what I supposed. Its a problem of comtability. I have to accept that. Would have been nice that the purchaser would have informed that this restriction exists. Wouldn't expect that.

Anyway. Thanks for all your support.

Hello u/tbofcboy, we're to help with your prepaid service.

If you have a 3G device, please note, it will no longer work on the AT&T Network. If you have a 4G device, it may not be compatible and not work depending on where it was purchased and the model #. For example, the Galaxy S20 models G981U and G981U1 will work on the AT&T network, but the Galaxy S20 models G981F, G981N, and G981O will NOT work. You'll find a full list of compatible devices. This is because they have different hardware that is not compatible with AT&T’s network (HD Voice, VoLTE compatible).

You can read more on AT&T 3G sunset.

This should answer your question.
