Copying my contacts list

Is there a simpler way to save my contact list before you delete it? Why are you deleting them in the first place. I have searched everywhere on the site and I can't find a simple answer.

Copying my contacts list

There are many ways to back up your contacts before you delete them (depending on the phone your using) , why are you planning to delete them anyway. hahaha..
Follow there steps: For iphone and ipad

Step 1: First, download My Contacts Backup from the App Store. There are actually a few good apps that do exactly the same thing, but we will be using My Contacts Backup for this tutorial.

Step 2: Launch the app and tap the “Backup” button and watch as the app quickly backs up all your contacts.

back up iPhone contacts

Step 3: Tap the Email button and send yourself this email. Save this email in a folder, or maybe save a copy of the file on your computer.

Now, the great thing about this app is that the contacts are saved as vCard using the .vcf file format, which is the same format used by your iPhone or iPad (and many other devices).

Another way to backup your Android contacts

  1. Open the contact list on your phone.

    export options Android phone

    Export/import options

  2. Hit the menu button from your contact list.
  3. From the list that appears hit the import/export tab.
  4. This will bring up a list of available export and importing options.
Once you have picked the option that applies to you the list will be backed up. What’s left to do is import the contact list on your new phone.

Hope this help..

Regards,
Elroy

Hello @Katiekat33!

Thank you so much for sharing your question regarding the process to copy your contacts list. I can certainly guide you!

First, I appreciate Elroy for providing helpful steps and great graphics, which allow you to complete the transfer process easily.

In addition to those options, a great way to prevent losing your contact list on your phone is to make sure your device is backed up. If you have an Android phone, you can sync your contacts to a Google account.  Generally, by default this setting is enabled, which makes the task so much easier. To check this, please go to your Gmail account > in the upper left corner, press where it says Gmail > in the drop down, choose Contacts > make sure they appear.

If you did not find your contacts there, on your phone go to Settings > Back up and reset and check the box Back up my data. This will ensure your contacts are backed up automatically.

If you own an iOS device, you can easily transfer your contacts by backing them up using iCloud or iTunes. The great thing about iTunes is it also synchronizes your contacts to your computer, which works as an external storage. Please follow these steps to complete both processes:

Using iCloud

  • From the main screen on your iPhone, open Settings
  • Select iCloud option
  • Log in with your Apple ID and Password
  • Toggle the Contacts switch On
  • Select Merge

Using iTunes

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
  • Select your device at the top of the iTunes window
  • In the Summary Section, click Back Up Now

Additionally, AT&T offers a convenient way to automatically save your contacts. Please follow this link to learn more about our AT&T locker app.

I hope these additional options help you decide which one works best for you! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!
