Why does such a large company have such terrible customer service?

I had constant problems with ATT and then finally switched to somebody else. ATT tried to keep billing me and wouldnt stop. I fanally had to stop them on my credit card. Even though They actually owe me money they continue to harass me now years later.

If you are having similar experiences please  let me know.   The bill is a small amount but its the principle.

When you switched providers did you port your number to the new carrier? Was your line the only one on your AT&T account?

You didn't cancel.  So now AT&T is ruining your credit because you didn't cancel properly and you still owe the money.

In order to cancel service you have to call them. Or Port out all of your numbers. Most people poured out phone numbers but they forget watches and tablets. Your new service provider would not have ported a number for a watch or tablet so AT&T continues to bill you until you call and cancel.

Hope you don't plan on getting a mortgage, renting an apartment, or buying a car. AT&t's bad debt will continue to come up and it is weighed very heavily by lenders.

Sorry, formerlyknownas  I did cancel. I also ported out all  of my numbers.   They actually owe me around $300, but are saying I owe them around $76.  I have excellent credit and dont think one disputed $76 item is going to ruin my credit.  You sound like an ATT (Edited per community guidelines)

Sounds like you didn’t pay your final bill. The final bill is not prorated.

Sorry, Lockdowncraziness not correct. I was on auto pay and due to being busy  they continued to charge for several months.  I called and repeated hold, transfer, they said they would fix. got charged the next month. Then I stoppped my credit card. They are saying I owe the amount from my stopped transaction when they actually owe me for several months charged with no service. I assume that you and the other commentor actually work for ATT

They had to have something to charge. You’re not making sense. If you ported all numbers on your account there wouldn’t be anything to charge. If you stopped payment for a valid balance then you owe them. And NO we do not work for AT&T, this is a customer based forum.

you sure sound on their side. I am not here to convince you of anything, but am looking for other people who had similar experience. beliven me I spent many hours on the phone and their customer service is messed up, it is not my fault as you seem to suggest.  I thought this was actually a forum but i have 2 commentors that seem to have extensive knowledge of the ATT  (assumed by you to be infallable and fair) billing system,   and how it must somehow be my own fault.

Again, this is a customer based public forum. Just because you think the charges are invalid does not make it true.

and if you are actually a customer, just because you seem to think they are  valid (without really knowing anything about my situation) doesnt mean you are correct. There is now ay you are a customer.
