Thy go to the secured Wi-Fi hotspot?
If I purchase a package from a third party...say optimum... for secure internet access will this action keep my information and internet surfing secure? Does at n t have an option for wifi security/ internet just for the phone at hand?

Huh? What makes you think anyone can access your phone browser history?
First of all, it starts with your account, not devices. Secure your yahoo, google, iCloud, Facebook accounts with 2 step authorization. Don't use public wifi, use your data. Screen lock your phone.
Know how to erase it remotely with iCloud, android device manager, etc.
