Rediculous hidden charges when adding a line?

Been a customer for 10+ years and the last 6 months have been horrid! At&t allowed a non authorized person make severe changes to my account back in july. Now I added a line and an ipad to my account, got charged an additional 180 dollars in charges that no one seems to be able to explain. The rep at my local store said it looks as if the accound was set up improperly. Called AT&T support, kept getting passed around and then hung up on. Service was shut off. I'm beyond irritated and ready to call my attorney and switch services.

Hi @Andrea.smolin!

First I want to say, thank you for your long time business with us! We would not be where we are without loyal customers like yourself.

I’d also like to apologize that you received these unexpected charges and unauthorized changes to your account. This is not the type of experience we want anyone to go through and I’ll be happy to help you.

So we can go over these charges in more detail and get to the bottom of this, I’m going to be sending you a private message so I can get more information from you.

Information you share by replying to the private message will not be shared, so please keep an eye out on your Communities and Forums inbox and have a great day!

I have had several of the same issues within the past 6 months. Not to mention, if you've been hacked... well get on your knees and pray because there is no security in place for that NIGHTMARE. I've been told that it's basically a "custody issue" over the ICloud account. Must be a sick joke, I'm not laughing!! The extra Hidden charges are ridiculous as well as the customer service. I called in to 611, the poor girl who got me had her a** chewed a little but she slipped a bit and told me that an offer made inside the retail store was not necessarily what AT&T was able to provide....since they work on commission and the sales rep in store May Not Tell Me (the consumer) ALL THE INFO to make a sale, WHAT?!?? This is out right shady business and theft if you ask me! They did NOT fix the problem when I called either. As a matter of fact they tried to fast talk and charge me an extra $40 per line x2 + $60 and an extra $10 for the plan I was Promised when I bought the Direct TV package 3 months ago. Direct TV is also a rip off!! They promised a $200 credit or gift card, NONE OF WHICH I HAVE EVER GOTTEN. I'm cancelling and they can all Stuff it plus their extra charges! I'm done being scammed. Oh I forgot to mention... I've been a Loyal customer of theirs for YEARS!! I have had nothing but misery the last year and a half with this company. Still better than one of the other cell providers ( I won't stoop any lower and call them out) BUT, that's not saying much!
Nothing that happened was good with AT&T this year Nothing. Especially for the cost.
I told the rep to cancel my service. Watch that won't happen either! I'll get another charge!!

@KathyTolba. If you signed up in an authorized retailer ATT doesn't own the store and has limited control over their practices.

That has nothing to do with your iCloud account.

Google, Apple or any other account is yours and you have to secure it.  Never share you Apple ID and add 2 step verification to keep it safe.  I have 2step on all my accounts since I got hacked a few years ago. Unless you gave it to the salesperson, you have no reason to suspect ATT is involved.

Icloud and Apple ID is entirely separate from your carrier.

I've received your reply, though I only really have email available while I'm at work. I have a large data limit because I don't have Internet at my home so being without a phone is horrid. my email address

Hidden charges when adding a line to a mobile phone plan can be frustrating and lead to unexpected expenses. While the specific charges can vary depending on the provider and plan, here are a few common types of fees that customers may encounter:

  1. Activation Fee: Some providers charge an activation fee when adding a new line to an existing plan. This fee is meant to cover the administrative costs associated with setting up the new line.

  2. Line Access Fee: Providers may charge a monthly line access fee for each additional line on the plan. This fee covers the cost of providing network access and services to the added line.

  3. Device Payment: If you choose to purchase a new device for the added line, the cost of the device and any associated financing charges or monthly device payments may be included in your monthly bill.

  4. Taxes and Surcharges: Taxes, regulatory fees, and surcharges imposed by local or state governments can be added to your bill. These charges are typically beyond the control of the service provider and are passed on to the customer.

  5. Service Fees: Some providers may impose additional service fees for features or services associated with the added line, such as voicemail, call forwarding, or international calling.

It's important to carefully review the terms and conditions, as well as the pricing details provided by your service provider, before adding a new line to your plan. Ask for a breakdown of all charges and fees associated with the additional line to ensure transparency.

To avoid surprises, consider asking your provider specific questions about any potential hidden charges, including activation fees, line access fees, or any other fees that may apply. Compare different providers and their pricing structuresProLuluboxapk for android to find the one that best suits your needs and offers the most transparent pricing.

If you encounter unexpected or undisclosed charges, it's recommended to reach out to your service provider's customer service department to seek clarification and potentially negotiate or dispute the charges if they were not clearly communicated to you beforehand.

This is a 7-year-old thread. And there are no hidden fees. 7 years ago the original poster would have purchased new devices and been charged and upgrade or activation fee of $30, and sales tax per her state law on every device.

Going through the process of purchasing and checking out online She could have read that she was being charged sales tax and activation fees. It would have been presented in store on her sales slip.
