Pay off ETF for a corporate phone?
I left my job in August of last year, but they let you keep your corporate phone. The company pulled it off their monitoring stuff, but it doesn't have a sim card. I had a perfectly working phone at the time, so I just kept my corporate phone as a back up. Well, my old phone broke and now I want to use my old work phone instead of buy a new one. I moved to a different country and have a new provider. I need to unlock my device from AT&T. I'm happy to pay the ETF, but I don't have an account. It's a work phone. I've contacted my former place of employment and they have been not helpful. Any ideas?

Sorry, there is nothing you can do. Only the account owner can pay off the ETF. Most likely your company number is still in use on another phone and the only way they can terminate the contract and pay the ETF is to cancel that line, which they are unlikely willing to do. Bottom line you’ll just have to wait for the contract to be completed to unlock.

You can't pay it off, the business or the corporation that owned your phone would have to pay it off. If they kept the phone number and are using it on a different phone, that phone line may be under a new contract. The only way to generate an early termination fee would be to cancel that phone number. Unfortunately that wouldn't be up to you
