iphone invoice
Hi AT&T,
I am Eddiee from India
I bought a second hand iPhone in the US last year, but it is still linked to the previous owner account. Apple told me they could remove the lock if I provide them the original invoice or a copy of it.
can you help me out

ATT will not be able to help you. ATT would only be able to provide to the original owner, if the phone was even bought from ATT. It could have been bought from many different retailers.

Why would AT&T have the original invoice? If the phone is linked to the original owner's iCloud account then only the original owner can remove it. AT&T has no control over iCloud. That's Apple's thing.
Is it the Apple iCloud account that the phone is still linked to or is the phone locked to AT&T? Two entirely different things.

Did you even read the responses? You were told only the original owner can get it Get a refund or throw it away.

@Eddiee2017 AT&T nor Apple can really help you if you don't have original paperwork (receipt). You have to contact the original owner and have him/her give you a copy of the original invoice (receipt). AT&T will not be able to provide you with a copy of the receipt if you were not the original owner and Apple won't allow you disable the iCloud account if you can not prove that you now own the phone. Sounds like you were scammed. The original owner should have removed the phone from their iCloud account before selling it (and made sure it was paid off if they were on an installment plan).

@Eddiee2017 This is a customer to customer forum only. It is not AT&T Support so we have no access to customer information at all. We are just customers like yourself. We've tried to explain it to you but there is really nothing that can be done without the original owner getting involved and cancelling their iCloud account or removing that phone from the iCloud account. And, if there is money still owed on the AT&T account, which it sounds like you don't know if there is or not, that further complicates the matter. Get your money back.

Hello Eddiee2017, we're here to get you pointed in the right direction for support.
As our Aces stated, The previous owner of the device would need to remove the iCloud account. You will need to contact the previous owner of the device. AT&T will not be able to assist in this matter.
Thank you for visiting AT&T Community Forums!
