Government taxes & fees

My at&t bill has been 176.54 consistently but I'm looking more into it now and I see that my line where I have an iPhone 12 mini on a free installment plan has more fees and taxes than another line on the account that doesn't have a phone with an installment plan, which of these taxes and fees are actually necessary because it adds like $25 to my bill each month. Anyone who has an at&t bill with these problems let me know if something is wrong with my bill. PS I have the unlimited starter plan if that helps!

Unless the one line is used primarily in a city that charges a city tax, that does not make much sense.

It should not be in relationship to the phone you purchased. Sales tax on your phone was paid up front.

Charlotte is a huge city, and may well have city taxes.   Sure, call and ask.

Am I missing something? According to that screenshot, there is a 37 cent difference in total fees and taxes, which is from the County, District, and State sales taxes, which are apparently only on one line.

It's the monthly charges with the $30+ difference.

I'm not with AT&T, but pay about $4 per line. Luckily Verizon doesn't charge that crazy $1.99 "administrative fee."

Smh T-Mobile had no fees I paid 160 flat for the magneta plan with 5 lines but the T-Mobile essential plan for 5 lines is supposed to be $24 but taxes and fees aren’t included so it’s more like $31 a

We'll be happy to provide some clarity regarding these taxes and fees @Sam1445335g.

We apply taxes, surcharges, and fees to your AT&T services based on rates determined by federal, state, and local laws. This is for your service itself and, as @lizdance40 stated, is separate from the installment plan since sales tax was paid upfront for your device. This article provides an explanation of each tax on your bill; for charges specific to your city and county, you can enter your ZIP code in this portal to see the local tax rates that we base these charges on.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us.

@MicCheck

Sure, Verizon charges admin fee of $1.95.  They went up right after At&t did.
