We are here to point you in the right direction to report fraud, @bethbelnap.

For wireless accounts, call Global Fraud Management at 877.844.5584. For digital phone, internet, and U-verse TV accounts, call 888.471.4576.

More steps to take in case of identity theft

  • Close accounts you know or suspect were tampered with or opened fraudulently.
  • File a police report. Get a copy of it to submit to your creditors or others who may require proof of the crime.
  • Report identity theft at www.identitytheft.gov.
  • File your complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) online at www.consumer.ftc.gov or by calling the FTC. The FTC maintains an identity theft database law enforcement agencies use for investigations. Filing a complaint also helps the FTC better assist you as they learn more about identity theft and the problems it creates.

We hope this information helps! Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums. Please feel free to reach back out with any other questions or concerns.

AT&T defrauded me and used deceptive practices to sell products. AT&T employees altered my identity without my consent. The person AT&T added as new owner of my account bought new iphone 14 in Nov 2022. I filed with AT&T fraud department and they said no fraud happened! WHAT? LOL! Such a dreadful company. Your sensitive data is NOT SAFE with AT&T. The fraud department is a complete joke. I recommend filing all necessary complaints with AT&T and your state's Atty General. Then file an official complaint through Fairshake lawyers. It will not cost anything until a settlement is reached and fees are reasonable. I believe $20/per $100 settled amount.

AT&T lawyers offered me $300 credit. Had I done same to someone's account it is likely I would be prosecuted for computer fraud and identity theft. AT&T is trash. I am currently in arbitration process.

@kimberlyspears19  Have you gone to an AT&T Corporate Store and had them confirm your identity with your driver's license etc, along with any paperwork that you have? If you do, make sure it is an AT&T Corporate Store and not an Authorized AT&T Retail Store. They look exactly the same so you should ask when you go inside, even if you check the AT&T Store Location map on AT&T's website.

Good luck with getting your account straight. Your data is never secure with AT&T. Expect anything.

AT&T is inundating me with data overage messages that are untrue. It took 90 minutes on the phone with 3 different AT&T representatives to acknowledge that the messages are in error. Yet they have not fixed the situation. This is consumer abuse on AT&T's part. They're trying to get me to upgrade my plan and pay more, when it's totally unnecessary. The last rep sent me a link to the Fraud department that fails.
