Discount Not for ALL Healthcare employees?
As a healthcare employee of 7 years (CPhT), I do not understand why nurses and doctors are the only healthcare workers who are able to receive discounts from AT&T. I have much respect for nurses and doctors, but to completely disregard every other cog that keeps the 24-hour machine called a hospital going seems rather odd to me. If there were no pharmacy techs, medication would never get mixed and sent for these Covid patients and for surgeries. If there was no custodial staff, these rooms that held Covid positive patients would never be cleaned. Disregarding my deep desire to save as much money as possible; the absence of any acknowledgement for anyone who is not a nurse or physician is unacceptable to me. Even if AT&T does not believe that other healthcare workers are to be held in the same tier of respect as nurses and physicians, which would be another argument for another day, I feel there should be some type of discount offered.

FirstNet, the government sponsored network for first responders managed and operated by ATT,AT&T does not decide who qualifies the government (firstnet) decides who can get it

It's strange to me that pharmacists and pharmacy technicians aren't considered because they helped so much with covid vaccinations and every other vaccination every year prior and after covid.

I agree. Im a medical biller and coder. If not for my position then no one would be paid for their encounters or anything. And to give discounts only to the highest paying positions in the medical field is ridiculous.

@Vkril92 Do you have direct patient contact? No. My son is a clinical pharmacist and he doesn't get a discount from AT&T. My daughter is a NICU and she doesn't get a discount from AT&T. Neither one is a FirstNet customer. My son still wouldn't get a discount but my daughter might if they switched.
The point has already been driven home. It's FirstNet who decides, not AT&T. Complain to FirstNet.

@Constructive The original post from a year ago wasn’t talking about Firstnet, I doubt the one from today is either. There is a discount for doctors and nurses totally unrelated to Firstnet that ATT labels as a healthcare discount (note the URL below). Though your answer is accurate, it’s just not the answer to what as asked.

AT&T's discount is still only for physicians, nurses, and PA's. It still doesn't cover clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, x-ray techs, billing, etc. It's pretty much the same as FirstNet.
Doctors and Nurses employed in the fields of Veterinary Science, Dentistry, Optometry, Pharmacology/Pharmacists, Chiropractors/Chiropractic, Insurance Industry or Donor (Organ, Plasma, etc.) are not currently eligible for FirstNet.

@OttoPylot Yes, that’s true but the point here is ATT decides who gets that discount. You can’t say it’s the government making the decision as they do with Firstnet. So when someone asks why not all healthcare employees, it’s a legitimate question, just not one anyone here can answer. Just don’t tell them it’s not ATT making the decision, though I’m sure that was not your or @Constructive‘s intent and why I wanted to point out the distinction.

Thank you @sandblaster you couldn't have said any better. And @OttoPylot just because I don't have direct contact with patients does not mean I am not a healthcare worker. Plus I actually do since I help patients who are uninsured sign up for one of our programs but that is neither here nor there. But in my post I wasn't even saying that other professions shouldn't get the discount I was saying to only provide it 3 different fields that are usually the highest paying and not to anyone else that help with everything to do with the encounters is ridiculous.
