AT&T Not Honoring Trade-Ins/Free Phone Promotions
This thread is to continue the discussion on the closed thread regarding "free phone" promotions and trouble getting those promotions honored (https://forums.att.com/conversations/wireless-billing/att-not-honoring-promotions/60306ec6fd06b771a28b30de?commentId=60a4420e8c74ef3172539d58) Several AT&T wireless customers were claiming that they were promised "free phones" through various promotions upon starting new contracts, but instead were billed for those phones in monthly installments. The previous discussion was continuing with new posts but was closed for no apparent reason. AT&T "employees" posted claiming those "free phone" credits would kick in after 3 billing cycles, but most everyone who posted had experiences that went far beyond 3 billing cycles. Please post your experiences here, with as much specific detail as possible. If you have updates from the previous thread with solutions, tips, or good news (such as how you got your issue resolved) please post that as well.

@yourdreamhomemi This is a customer populated forum with very little input by AT&T. On rare occasions @ATTHelp will post a reply.

Threads are closed for various reasons if they become ugly, rude, or just are not helpful.
This forum is a public customer to customer forum only. It is not official AT&T Support and in fact, Support rarely, if ever, reads let alone responds to posts here. The occasional response from an AT&T employee (they are identified as such) is done on their own time.
As far as doxing goes, no one here does that because no one here has access to any personal or account information. The scammers/spammers
/phishers can easily harvest your information from other sources.

As I posted above, "skeeter," AT&T employees *were* posting on the previous thread on this topic, and pretty regularly: irrelevant, unhelpful comments that specifically insulted the intelligence of the people who were looking for guidance and advice. Up until a little while ago today, "Otto," new posts were appearing to the thread with similar customer experiences, regarding difficulty and broken promises getting "free phone" promotions honored. As for threads getting ugly, I think that AT&T could avoid the ugliness with better follow-through and customer service, and by preventing their employees from adding insult to injury by posting negatively on this forum. I'm attempting to create at least a document of these experiences, although I don't hope for much relevant advice from AT&T here.

As noted in the signature box of any AT&T employees that post:
*I am an AT&T employee, and the postings on this site are my own and don't necessarily represent AT&T's position, strategies or opinions.

Thanks for the heads-up, "skeeter." Another irrelevant, unhelpful comment from an AT&T employee.

You're not assuming I'm an employee are you? I'm just an old lady sitting here with my cat on my lap. 😁

I don't have a cat, and I too am old, but I am not an AT&T employee either. Never have been, nor have I had any desire to be one.

My mistake, Skeeter. But your comments aren’t relevant.

ACEs have ACE signatures. EMPLOYEEs have employee signatures. ASSOCIATEs have a different signature.
Oh wait....was that irrelevant information?

Your attempt to consolidate other customer experiences in this or any thread won’t work. Customers who come here with a phone credit complaint tend to start their own thread, they don’t usually post their experience on some other thread. The only reason the referenced thread was closed is because it was an old thread that was restarted by a poster who posted the same thing on 4 different threads and on the referenced thread posted the same thing multiple times. Old threads tend to get closed to prevent that kind of spamming. Good luck, though, but I think your effort will be in vain.
