AT&T has stolen from me!

At the beginning of this year I was approached by a AT&T salesperson while out shopping. He asked how much I was paying at verizon, I told him around about how much it was, he mentioned my phone was old. He went on to say that he could give me free brand new iphones if I switched to AT&T, it was a promotion at the time.  I had no real reason to switch to AT&T other than it was cheaper than verizon. I asked how would I get new iphones by switching, he said by trading in our old phones. Mind you I had just paid my iphone off that I had with verizon, again no real need for a new phone because I had a new phone. What enticed me to switch to at&t was that the sales person told me the promotion was for new iphones for everyone on the plan and unlimited data, and it was quoted $100 cheaper than verizon.  So I agreed to switch to at&t.

I received the first bill from at&t and it was like $500, so I called and was told it was start fees or whatever their excuse was, additionally every phone had a payment plan on it. I never saw on any paperwork any mention of a payment plan for 1 phone let alone 5 phones. the phones throughout the entire process of becoming a at&t customer was reassured to me that it would be free. I have tried calling customer support, that is joke, and have just been hassled around for months because these payments wont come off my bill.

I have been lied to and stolen from by AT&T.

A salesperson approaching you is almost certainly not an AT&T employee but rather a 3rd party agent.

The "free" phones require trade in of the old phones. Did you do that? If so, how did you send them to AT&T?

It was at an AT&T kiosk in a target. AT&T sent new phones with mailers for the old phones.

Yeah, the "AT&T" kiosk are authorized 3rd parties, not AT&T.

The problem now is that the mailers with the new phones are intended to return the new phones if you change your mind. There is a separate trade in kit because trade ins go to a totally different place (a different company, really). Basically, the trade ins never got where they need to be, so the promo wasn't applied.

At this point, your only hope is to file a BBB complaint. Those go to corporate and the department that handles them has the ability to track down missing packages and get promos applied.
