5G so slow

The town I live in does not have 5G. But anywhere that I travel to when my phone is in 5G it is so slow. And I mean anytime it's in 5G. I have traveled from North Minnesota to North Dakota and down to Kentucky. And again does not matter the area I am in. If it says 5G it is slow. We pay $320 monthly for 4 phones. I'm so close to switching providers. We have been an Att customer since 2006.

If it's everywhere you travel, have you verified it's not your phone that's the issue?

Hello @Danyele_Smith, we'd be more than happy to help you with your mobile data connection.

Here are a couple of steps that may help with your data connection.

  • First, make sure you're using Wi-Fi Calling when you're in a general location like home. Be sure to manually disable your mobile data by performing the following steps:
    • Swipe down from two points at the top of your screen, to access your quick settings.
    • Tap Mobile data to turn it on or (in this case) off.
  • Also, make sure your area has 5G coverage as identified here.

Try rebooting your device to refresh your connection to the network.

We recommend using our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool to fix this. Simply select your device and the issue, then follow the steps to find a solution.

We hope this helps!

The only time my phone is super slow is when I'm trying to use the internet and it says 5G or 5GE. And I'll have full service bars. Other then that my phone works great. If it says 4G my internet is NOT slow at all. And I've don't the reboot many of times. I've also made sure all updates including software updates are done.

Hi there @Danyele_Smith, we appreciate that information.

Does this occur during any specific time of day, or does it occur whenever you're in a 5G zone regardless of the time? If it's the former, it may be network congestion due to too many people around you using the 5G network.

Is this affecting only your device, or all the lines on your account? If all the devices aren't affected, then try swapping SIM cards between them. This can help narrow down the cause of the slow speeds.

You can also try going to our device selector to pick your phone and follow the steps to reset your network connection.

Please let us know how this goes.
