verification codes

My iphone no longer receives verification codes when I try to log in to my online accounts. What can I do?

Hi there @rjacob60, we're happy to help with troubleshooting steps to receive short codes to your iPhone.

 

Let's start by resetting your network settings to refresh your connection to the network.

 

Notification bar, then select the Settings icon > scroll to and select General management > select Reset > Reset network settings > Reset settings > select Reset to confirm.

 

Many applications use Two-Factor Authentication to verify your identity. If you've switched your phone recently, you need to verify your identity with some apps like Gmail or PayPal in order to use them. If you do not see the text messages, the steps below may help:

  1. Go to the Settings icon
  2. Tap Messages
  3. Tap Blocked
  4. Tap Edit
  5. Tap the minus sign ( - ) next to the number of the contact you want to unblock
  6. Tap Unblock

If you do not receive text, we highly recommend verifying the number or email in question is accurate with the party you are attempting to complete the two-step authentication with. Contacting the third party Customer Support is recommended if you cannot verify it online.

RESOLVED!

Forget all that! Most of us have already tried everything they tell you. It’s frustrating! It’s in their system and it isn’t your phone! (See bullet list below for quick fix)

Here’s the solution:

FIXED!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!


I called the number posted below by “cltbrad2.” Other than wait time, it was the absolutely fastest call to AT&T ever. I hate calling AT&T. I have literally spent hours adding up to days trying to get issues fixed mostly to no avail. This call was the exception! I responded that “I was having trouble receiving texts.” I was sent to pro tech support and had Luigi in TN. He reset & refreshed my phone, had me turn it off for 10 seconds and turn it back on. He promptly called me back, had me test receiving a verification code…and holy crap! It worked!!! I’m amazed. Best support call ever. Will start here forever more!!! Luigi! You are the best tech ever! Still can’t believe I was on the call for less than 20 minutes! That has to be a record! And that includes hold time. Wow! “Cltbrad2” Thanks so much for the post!!!

•Number to call: 800-331-0500

•Problem: “I’m having trouble receiving text messages”

•You’ll be transferred to Assurion, Pro-Tech Support. (Do not hang-up…I almost did😳). Wait for tech and explain you aren’t receiving verification codes. They’ll send your phone a reset and refresh. You won’t lose anything. 

•Make sure to confirm that they will call you back. 
•Turn your phone off for 10 seconds.

•Turn it back on and get your return call. 
•Verify you are now receiving codes! 
•Yay!!!!
