usage notifications

Hi.

When my data usage gets near its limit, EVERYONE in my plan gets notifications.  They get text messages saying that the data is near a certain percentage of the limit.

I want to know how to turn OFF these notifications so that only I, the account owner, gets them.

Thank you.

I've had another customer ask this of me, and as far as I've found it's not possible. At least it's not possible to limit it to yourself. If your family find the notifcations particularly irritating, consider getting a bigger plan to minimize how often it occurs.

If you can't limit the messages, you could have your family members put the phone number they come from into their "blocked list", and they shouldn't see the messages any more.  Of course, that would block all messages, not just the "near the limit" ones...

Can I remove all notifications for everyone entirely, including myself?

I'm assuming that you're not on a shared data plan--otherwise, wouldn't you want all users who share data in the plan to be aware that the data bucket is reaching its limit?

Hi.

I am indeed on a shared data plan.

And no, I don't want them to be notified.  I as the account owner can and should manage it alone.  Others on the plan do not pay the bill.  I do.  The option should exist to turn off these notifications in such cases where it is none of their concern.

I really don't think it's that crazy of an option/request.

Don't you think that everyone should know that they are reaching their data limit? If only you know, they will keep using and go over the limit costing you money.

I will know, and thus I can take appropriate action.  It is none of the other users' concern as to the details of the plan usage.

Actually, the plan owner can see how much data each user has consumed and can individually turn off data. So, if one user is "hogging" all the data, you can shut their data access off.

That's a good point with regard to what control the plan owner has.

I was just hoping of an easy way to turn off notifications.

I suppose the best answer would be to have the phones just block the texts.
