Unauthorized charges

I visited an AT&T store in Philadelphia Nov 19, 2022 to upgrade my daughter's Iphone. My phone bill arrived Dec 22, 2022 with a new cell phone number randomly added that I did not recognize AND a new cell phone was financed, also unauthorized. These were added on November 19th, the date I was at the store. I believe the store rep that helped us with the Iphone 14 purchase added these items on my account while he had access online! It has been a nightmare trying to get someone to remove these charges and cancel the phone and phone number! Many calls to AT & T, a visit to a corporate store location, and fraud report generated online. Hoping to get answers and removal of these charges from my bill.

This forum is not customer support, unless ATTHelp responds and offers to help, no one here can remove any charges. Since you have already submitted a fraud report and have made multiple calls with no resolution, your next move should be to escalate to corporate by filing an FCC or BBB complaint.

Sounds like the rep added a new line and gave your daughter the device attached to that line. Did you verify the IMEI number she is using with the IMEI number associated with the new line?

Thank you for your response.

The rep added a new mobile phone and financed it through our account. We do not have the phone he added. We bought an iphone 14, which was not on the account bill. Hopefully he can't access our account any longer. Her phone number is different from the one added as another line.

I'm having the same issue. I upgraded my phine and they attached 2 extra lines to my account. I dont have any devices attached to those exta phone numbers. However they were charging me from AUG 2021 to present for one line with no service. The other line is attached to my main phone number which i wanted upgraded. They told me i could cancel the phine number attached to my new phone, if i did so i would have to pay the entire amount of the installment left on the phone upgrade. They told me my only options was to either change my number to the phone number that was attached without my consent, add another phone or device and have the unwated phone number attached to it or keep the new number attached to my phone and continue to pay an extra $25 a month for the service whci im not using. This company is a rip off and fraud is being committed on a daily basis.

Having a similar issue. A rep added a second line to an existing phone. So i have been paying for 2 lines on 1 phone since January 2023.  ATT refuses to help me. It is clearly commission fraud.

Having the same issue. ATT rep in another state, added 6 phone lines and financed 2 phones on my account. Spoke with soneone at fraud, they supposedly removed 3, but all 6 are still showing up. I'm so disappointed in ATT. I don't know what to do now. Get a lawyer involved?

I would contact the manager of the store that completed the transaction. I am afraid you are in for a long expensive process before (hopefully) getting your issue completely resolved. I am going on more than 6 months with a lot of promises of help but no actual action. You can always ask the manager to escalate it for you, I suppose. Best of Luck!

A lot of this would be resolved if you read everything every single time. And read your bill every month and sooner if you make changes.

It's up to us to read our bill to make sure it is correct. If you continue to pay the bill when it's wrong, you are asserting that there's nothing wrong with it. You have one cell phone bill. Service providers have millions

reply to 'formerlyknownas' If you don't pay your bill they will turn off all the phones on your account. If I had done that I would have no working cell phones for my family and a lot more problems to resolve. Of course I let the company know the instant I received the 1st bill with this issue. Encouraging people to not pay their bill will only cause them more problems, unless they let the company know ahead of time and the company agrees they should not pay their bills. Still I wouldn't recommend it. You would be risking more problems and more unnecessary charges.
