Truth or lies? 2 reps, 2 answers....

First off, you are not going to get any special deals on your plan. The price quoted for the 3GB plan is the standard price. They might offer you bonus data but they can't change the plan price. You will pay whatever is published on the website minus any discounts you are qualified for. I have no idea what they are trying to tell you regarding BYOP. You can use any phone you want as long as it is compatible on ATT's network. It does not matter where or who you bought it from. There is no such thing as not eligible for BYOP. If you want to buy a new phone from ATT, it will cost you full retail price whether you pay for it up front or in monthly installments (Next plan). Lastly, you can probably keep your Nationwide plan if you want but you will have to add a data plan. It will probably cost less to switch to a new plan.

One note to add, if you are still on a 2 year contract from the last phone you bought, the price you pay for any new plan will be $20 higher until your contract expires. That might have been what rep 2 meant by not being eligible for BYOP. If still under contract, your line fee on any of the current plans is $40. That line fee drops to $20 when your contract ends. This is for current plans. If you keep your Nationwide plan, the only increase would be for adding a data plan, probably $30.

Are you saying that keeping my Nationwide 300 Plan with a smartphone would work?

Wouldn't I have to pay through the nose for unlimited text and a few GBs of data?

Am always amazed that AT&T customer service is so incredibly unreliable and full of crap. That is why I prefer to communicate via chat so I have records of conversation.

You don't have a text plan either? Then yes, adding a text and data plan would not be cheap. I'm not sure what options you have but I'm guessing there is only one text plan, $20 for unlimited texts and two data plans, $20 for 300mb or $30 for 3GB. At least, that's what the options were on my minute plan when the minute plans were discontinued.

So  --- I should be able to:

1.) get daughter's iphone 6s or p/u iphone at apple store & pay for it all upfront 

2.) Change plan to Mobile Advantage 3GB

3.) and get activated??

$20 line and 3 gigs is $40.  With tax about $65 a month.  

If you have your own phone, have you considered Gophone?   You lose a few features, but 6 gigs is $45.
