They Promised A $250 Gift Card For Each Line & It Was A Lie

My boyfriend and I both switched to AT&T and combined our wireless plan.  We were promised to each receive a $250 Visa Gift Card to "spend on whatever you want".  We never received, and when I called, they said it would be applied as a monthly discount over the 36 month phone payment plan.  However, I was told it would NOT show up on the bill as an individual amount because I was receiving a "bundle" of promotional discounts.  Additionally, the monthly bill is actually MORE than what the rep quoted us when we decided to switch.  I switched because I was fed up with a high bill.  Now our bill will be at least as much as our previous bills, and we do not get the $500 worth of gift cards.  I am considering not paying them another penny and telling them they can come pick up the phones if they want them.  They actually came to my house while installing my internet in order to go over setup and account, and this is when I signed up for mobile as well.  The guy lied to our faces.  Anyone else experienced this with the gift cards?

Hey there @kergle1448,  this isn't the experience we wanted you to have. Let's get you pointed in the right direction for assistance with your gift cards.

We recommend you check our Reward Center website for details on how to claim your gift cards. You can also reach the Reward Center by calling them at 800-288-9983 between 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday. There can be a few reasons why your first wireless bill is higher than expected, such as one-time equipment fees.

Thanks for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums.

I have already checked the rewards center and have also contacted the rewards center.  There is no such gift card coming my way.  They claim it will be applied to the bill over 3 years, but I won't be able t see it because of my "bundled" promotions.  Also, my first two bills are less than discussed, but when looking into my future billing, which will be my bill for the next 3 years, they told me the price over the phone and it's more than what the guy promised when we signed up.  He also promised a physical gift card we could use on anything, a $250 one for each cell phone we purchased and service for both lines for switching from another carrier.  I appreciate your completely generic response, which proves you did not read my post, or you would know that I have already followed up with the company and I am not getting squat, except a higher bill than I had with Verizon.

I assume you have recently switched AT&T.

As a fiber internet customer when you switch your wireless service to AT&T you qualify for a 25% discount off of your wireless service. It should be applied on the first bill. If you are not seeing a 25% discount on your service plan you certainly have a grievance.  The only requirement to receive the 25% discount is being a fiber internet customer of AT&T switching to AT&T Wireless both the internet and the wireless bill must be the same address and the same name.   Since you indicate they are bundled that should be true

This discount is stackable only with the $10 per phone line auto pay and paperless billing discount which to you is another $20 a month on two lines.

The phone trade in deal does not credit the cost of phones for approximately 3 months. Usually by the 3rd or 4th bill you should see credits on your new phone purchase based on sending in a qualifying phone and being on an unlimited data plan.

If dealing with support through this forum, or over the phone does not resolve your problem we recommend filing a Better Business Bureau complaint online. That complaint is forwarded to AT&T upper management and someone will call you.
