Suspended service for calling internationally "too much"

Today, AT&T suspended my wireless service with no notice because I have been calling internationally "too much". This action left me stranded because I was somewhere new and didn't know how to drive home without navigation. I call internationally so much because my husband is currently stationed overseas. This has caused me so much undue stress that I'm considering suing. Would love advice on next steps.

Well, you can't sue for "undue stress" even in small claims, which is your only option, so that's a no go.

How much are you calling internationally? Do you have an international calling plan? Have you been located in the US the entire time? Has this been going on a while or did you just start making these calls?

I’ve never heard of such a thing, you must have run up a very large amount of international charges for them to suspend service. A simple phone call should get service restored unless there is some history of late payments. In any event, cutting off your service is meant to protect you. Once ATT knows the calls are legitimate, there should be no issue going forward. You should definitely consider adding an international calling plan and/or look for free ways to call over the internet.

UPDATE: After hours of phone calls and chats, AT&T has decided that they will not be following through on any of their promises to correct this issue. Two weeks ago I was told that a credit would hit my account today - specifically 8/14- not only did it not hit but they've decided they're done trying to figure it out and that my case closed a month ago. Where was that information two weeks ago when I called them crying because I had had enough? Why do they feel the need to constantly lie? Why tell me that if it's not true? Why don't they follow through with anything and why doesn't anyone ever know what the last person said to me? This company is so shady. They must train their employees to lie. I've had enough.

AT&T doesn't owe you any credits. It's up to you to pay the bill for valid charges in order to restore service.

This is the most entitled update I have seen in a long time. AT&T has International add-on plans which only cost about $15 a month which would have covered unlimited calls outside of the United States.

If AT&T suspended service because you ran up a huge bill at pay per use rates and now won't pay the bill that is your fault not AT&T's.

Employees should not make promises that AT&T will not keep. Any attempt to reduce charges for you is not a lie it is just an attempt. You need take responsibility for your own actions, and not expect someone else to pay for it.

@formerlyknownas Guess you misunderstood. AT&T did make promises for corrections. They did not say they would try, they gave me specific dates when the credits would hit then changed their mind with no communication. They promised they wouldn't shut my phone off. I made payments to show good faith. Never missed a payment ever. Also, I do have an international plan, so try again?

"corrections"... there were no corrections to be made if you made long distance phone calls without the $15 World connect plan.

What international plan is that?

World connect is the long distance plan you needed.   If you didn't have it,  the charges are already correct.
