Port out numbers

I have been trying to get in touch with somebody for a week now about the mistake that AT&T‘a loyalty/advance billing department made when they turned off my phones. I’ve been trying to get the numbers ported out but now they’re telling me that due to their mistake I’m gonna have to pay out a lot of money to get my phones cut back on just to get the number ported out. The reason I have canceled my services because of all the issues that I have had with the trade in department. I am willing to pay the early termination fees, but that is only after they have issued the credit for my phone that was turned in. Not only all of that but now during a hurricane my 77-year-old mother does not have a phone to contact anyone because I can’t get AT&T to give me a response back on what they’re going to do to fix the issue. I would like for someone to contact me or I will be filing complaints with the FCC and the BBB. This issue has been going on for a year now and I am ready for it to be resolved.

Did you ask AT&T to turn off your phones? If so, there was no mistake, they just did what you asked.

If you want to port out numbers, they must be active, so that's why you now have to reactivate the lines to have the numbers available to port out. Porting out automatically cancels the line with the original carrier. The new company should have told you that.

I ask for the lines to be canceled on Saturday. They cut off the lines on Friday when I was trying to port over the numbers. They didn’t tell me that if the lines was canceled that I wouldn’t be able to port over the numbers or that they wouldn’t credit me the money that they owe me. Call me dumb. It i was with sprint for 15 years before this and ever had to deal with anything like this before. I mean if  you give someone a time like they should not do anything before you expect them to.

Porting out cancels service. There is no need to tell your current carrier to cancel service if you are porting your phone numbers out to a different service provider.

The process would have been the same when you left Sprint.

If you called AT&T and ask them to cancel service, service would be terminated at the end of the current bill cycle.  When does your cycle end?  The 29th perhaps?

Numbers do need to remain active in order for them to Port.  And yes you will have to pay to have your numbers reactivated in order to Port out.

I would encourage you not to delay or the numbers will be permanently lost.

I do hope you haven't waited 2 days for a direct message, rather than just getting your lines reactivated asap
