ATT's official information, with a link to the list of supported devices

https://www.att.com/support/article/wireless/KM1324171

It says that if your device is not on the list, the device (not the number) will stop working, and that it's possible to switch the SIM card to a new, compatible device.

Even if my phone was not compatible (which it is), my SIM card would still be operational and ready to insert into a new device.

However, my number and SIM has been disconnected, I lost my phone number and current balance.

@TPEHAK I appreciate your response.

Unfortunately, and again, I don't pretend to be an expert on any of this... as far as I understand it... the US government has blocked Huawei devices period.

On any carrier.

@GuillermoM

Please list the make, model name, and the full model number of your device, and the build number.  That information is in settings under about phone.

Mistakes have been made and compatible phones have been excluded from the network.

But you have repeatedly said that your phone is "not connected with your plan" which makes me think your phone is not registering as a compatible device. That may mean that the SIM card is too old and needed to be replaced, it may mean that your phone is not compatible, it may mean your phone is missing an update that would make it compatible.

    Ignoring the issues with the phone is not going to get AT&T to allow you to put that phone back on their Network, and recover your number or plan.

A representative already confirmed to another member that the phone is not the problem.

@GuillermoM I appreciate your response.

I think At&t may have suspended your account due to the fact that they deemed your phone incompatible with the network.

It sounds like (and I was told that something like this would have at some point...although the actual date kept changing... by At&t customer service representatives) At&t has dropped your entire account.

I can't attest to if/how At&t informed everyone about this... I received a notification through a text message a couple weeks ago

Or whether or not you will be able to recover your account, phone number, or any money you've lost.

I only can speak to whether or not your phone has the built in hardware/software to be compatible with the network... even if At&t says it doesn't (based on information that I find online)... which is why I mentioned that it might help to state the exact make and model variant of the device you have.

I use unlocked phones precisely to avoid arbitrary plan changes and to always have the option to change carriers.

I will definitely not be using a locked network, where I will lose my number AND an operational phone if something goes wrong.

@GuillermoM You keep claiming it’s not the phone yet you won’t identify the make and model of the phone you were using. Why is that?

@sandblaster  It has nothing to do with the phones they have something going on on their end they don't want anyone to know about so they are blaming the whole switch (Edited per community guidelines) I just talked to someone after waiting a hour do not go out and buy a new phone your sims card still will not work. The man said he would call me back with a update they are trying to fix whatever issue that's going on to get the sim/service back working . He never once mentioned it's because of the phone not being supported anymore.

@GuillermoM I appreciate your response

And I can certainly understand why you chose to use unlocked phones.

I can't necessary speak for everyone else here... but I am sure that we have all at least considered... if not gone the route of an unlocked phone... for the same reasons you just mentioned.

I was told that I would experience the same issue that you are... and I have a international Samsung Galaxy A70.. on a prepaid account.

That's part of the reason why I/we kept mentioning that it might be helpful to state the device you have.

Representatives are sometimes mistaken, so I would not take that as gospel truth. What is the make, model name, and the full model number of the device?
