Lost phone

I lost my iphone, and someone has it now.

He called me and asked 100 dollars to get it back.

I know where the phone is by 'Find My iPhone' app.

What action is the most appropriate?

Hi there @elenoh

I’m sorry to hear about your lost device! Kdfederer is absolutely correct. You should indeed call the police. You may also wish to suspend your line to prevent any unauthorized usage from taking place. You can do so from your online AT&T account.

To temporarily suspend wireless service, and block your device if stolen:

  1. Select myAT&T at the top of the page. If prompted, log in.
  2. At the top of the page under Wireless, select Suspend or Reactivate Service.
  3. From the menu beside the device you want to suspend, select Lost, Stolen, or Customer request as the reason for suspension.
  4. Select Suspend. If you selected Stolen as your reason for suspension, we recommend that you also select the option to block the device.
  5. Select Confirm to suspend service on your device.

Your monthly plan fees will continue while your service is suspended. Please keep in mind, this will stop Find My iPhone from working, so you may first wish to note down the address where the iPhone was last located.

If this helps, please mark this answer as an accepted solution!

Thanks,

Charise
