Is it possible to unlock the iPhone XS Max?
Hello.
Is it possible to unlock the iPhone XS Max?
A good friend of mine gave me an iPhone that he bought from a store similar to eBay, it is under "carrier lock" (no access for other carriers). I contacted Apple support and was advised to contact AT&T in the USA.
The carrier's self-service IMEI system told me the following.
"We will not be able to unlock your device until all payments for the device have been made. To unlock your device, log in to your account to view and pay your payments."
IMEI:(Edited as per community guidelines)
Brand: Apple.
Phone model: iPhone XS Max A1921.
Activation status: Activated.
Technical Support: ▲ Expired.
Symlock status: ▲ Blocked.
Blacklist status*: Clean

Sounds like whoever sold it on eBay stopped making payments for it. If it was advertised as unlocked, your friend can try to dispute through eBay and see if it can be returned for a refund.
If that doesn't work, you'll just have to use it on AT&T, or try to sell it yourself (advertising as permanently locked to AT&T.)
