Did you ever get in touch with anyone from the fraud department? I had something similar happen. I had a line added to my account and then a month later a very expensive phone was connected to that line. The weird thing is that there is no data being used on that phone. No one gave consent for either of those things to be put on my bill. I could not get anyone from the fraud department on the phone. They finally answered an email and concluded it was not fraud! I am interested in finding out how your situation was handled. Thank you

I had the same thing happen.  ATT Global Fraud said it was not fraud.  Later discovered employee at store was fired, charged with felony accounts of having stolen over $40,000 worth of merchandise.  I went to the police recently and gave them a copy of my notes.  ATT makes the fraud form difficult to find.  I can't find it on their website.  This is wreaking havoc on my accounts and ATT threatening to suspend my account.

This happened to me also. I have been getting the run around since October. This seems to be common. I was able to have a rep from ATT file a claim with the fraud department for me. I received a letter 1 week later stating that they do not think this was fraud and to call the customer service number to further assist me with this matter. No option to appeal, provide documentation or provide an explanation. ATT cannot even tell me where the phone was purchased, they said it was at a Best Buy but have no idea were. I am going to attempt to visit a corporate store after work, but this is ridiculous. I would hate to have to move forward with an attorney considering all of the court costs just for $1400 phone.  If anyone else has information on how to assist I would be very grateful. I am completely disappointed with ATT process and have lost all faith in their ability to protect my personal information. I have been with ATT for 20 years and it is a shame this is how I am being treated.

And update to my situation. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and received a call after two days. This ended up getting resolved and was determined it was fraud. I recommend filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau with everything that you’ve done and attempted to do. It worked for me after fighting the situation the Better Business Bureau got the attention of AT&T.

good luck to you. It was a very frustrating situation. I ended up changing my provider to Verizon. I cannot believe the difference in customer service and the prices are even better for my family plan, they also offer so many discounts.!!!

Bye AT&T, you put me through too much frustration, headaches, and you’ve wasted too much of my time!

I can't believe it!  I, too had 4 IPhone 11's added to my account fraudulently.  I filled out an incident report, the representative that I spoke to said I should get a refund of over $800 then I get an email saying that my request is denied and those phones were legitimate!! I am beside myself with this, I can't believe how common this is. No matter if you have a PIN to access account - there is nothing secure about AT&T.  as the owner of the account I have to give them a PIN, when we go into the store, we have to have only authorized users to make any changes...so clearly this is an internal problem they have with employees.. appalling!!

Up until I discovered an employee at an AT&T authorized representative store stole over $40,000 worth of cell phones from the store, AT& T kept telling me that there was no fraud.  The loss prevention officer met the police at this store, wherein the employee was arrested in August of 2022.  He was the one who managed to create a new fraudulent account under my existing AT&T account.  After being given some credits, AT&T would then email notices to me that I owed them monies in the middle of a billing cycle.  All this when I had paperless billing, zero balances for numerous years, and no new purchases at any AT&T store for months. One statement said I had over $600 worth of credits and over $600 worth of charges when I only had 2 cell phones and one I-Pad mini.   I switched over to another major carrier in mid-January and continued to get late notices throughout February with AT&T.   My credit card company eventually took my side, but every time they'd credit me, AT&T would put some ridiculous charge back on my account.  I took advise of vgadowski who posted here and contacted the Better Business Bureau.  They contacted me within 48 hours and granted my request to have the account balance set at zero.  In the end, my bills are close to half of what AT&T was charging, and I also get better service.  Good luck to all of you.

I was never able to reach a human using AT&T fraud department number.  Logical assumption: it is not manned by humans anymore.  To date, AT&T personnel still recommend using that number knowing this.  AT&T 's website does not have easy access to fraud forms or other complaints.  They're in the business of selling products and services but have poor management tactics where consumer complaints are made.

I reported my fraud to Better Business Bureau and AT&T got a hold of me within days-AT&T removed the fraudulent phones from my account and refunded me the charges. They need to implement more safety measures at their stores. I think that’s where it starts.
