Healthcare Discount

Does AT&T recognize all front line healthcare workers, such as occupational, physical, respiratory, and speech therapists? I was told there was a 25% wireless discount for doctors and nurses by a representative, but they weren't sure if I qualified. As a therapist and longstanding customer, my family would greatly appreciate it. Thanks to all my fellow health care workers for all that you do!

@thum Once again, whether or not you are a frontline worker is irrelevant. ATT does not have a frontline worker discount. The discount in question is specifically for doctors and nurses, not frontline workers.

@sandblaster I understand AT&T is only providing discount for doctors and nurses and not frontline workers. Per American Nurses Association, there are 4 types of nurses, Registered Nurses, Advanced Practiced Registered Nurses, APRNs Practice Specialist Roles, and Licensed Practical Nurses. Respiratory Therapists are consider Clinical Nurse Specialists which falls under APRNs Practice Specialist Roles. I am expressing the need for AT&T to provide discount to the proper occupations, as ARPN is part of the eligibility.

A respiratory nurse (as in your second link) is a registered nurse who specializes in respiratory care. It is not a clinical nurse specialist role nor is an APRN required. Such a nurse qualifies for the discount, as they are an RN.

You've only mentioned a respiratory therapists. While highly trained and critical to the healthcare system, they are not nurses in any fashion. They have completely separately training and credentials (RRT).

@sandblaster   The issue is that AT&T's title for this, "HEALTHCARE WORKER" discount is extremely misleading and they have representatives in their stores selling the plan without explaining that only a couple titles will fall qualify for it. By the time you agree to sign up with AT&T specifically for this discount, get home to fill out the proper form, it is too late.

Where are you seeing AT&T advertising a "Healthcare Worker" discount? I only see a "Nurses and Physicians" discount.

@MicCheck I am pretty sure the discount web page did at one time have the description of “healthcare discount” on the page. It’s gone now.

@MicCheck  It was advertised as "Healthcare Worker Discount" up until just recently. And AT&T store Reps are still referring to it as such.

AT&T agents will tell you you qualify for the discount but very few do. They will tell you anything to sell phone I am one that got suckered. I canceled my Direct TV after 10 years  had cell service with them 31 yrs will be leaving as soon as phone’s are paid off. I was lied to about medical discount the cost of our phones, when I got the bill I went to the store for clarifying was told since I bought my phones at Sams club AT&T they couldn’t help me neither could Sams AT&T people but was told the “manger” for AT&T at Sams had a lot of mad people when the bill came and nobody could help. I am a certified ophthalmic technician I have worked every day for the last 23 months of COVID I see COVID patients every week anybody working in Medical field is front line and deserves the the discount. AT&T you should be held accountable for the lies your people use too sell your products. Nancy Bond

Those people in sams club are third party. Not AT&T nor AT&T employees. Sams should be held accountable as AT&T only supports what on their website.

Apparently for AT&T healthcare workers are only nurses and physicians, other front line healthcare workers do not qualify the “healthcare” discount. What a shame AT&T!!!
