False cost info from AT&T rep
Had a chat with an AT&T rep as I wanted to determine if AT&T offered any better deals on a new phone and a plan, than Verizon who I've been with for over 15 years. AT&T rep, and chat transcript shows that a phone was offered at $10 per month, then billed to me at $16 per month. The plan they quoted at $50 per month plus taxes and fees is NOT %50 per month. Guess what AT&T says...sorry for the 'miscommunication'. Beware. I'm looking to switch back to Verizon after only a week with AT&T.

You were not lied to, everything you were told is correct, you are just having the same knee-(Edited per community guidelines) reaction to your first AT&T bill that I did to my first Verizon bill. My first Verizon bill in 2019 was nearly $500. Considering I had only signed up for $200 worth of service, it's sticker shock. Unlike the average consumer I was well aware that first bills are abnormal, because I have switched service providers before.
Verizon at AT&T both have the same method of billing for promotions and their first bills include the same charges.
Promotions for phones are billed at full cost for every single promotion and every single phone or device. After two or three months if all other conditions for the deal are met credits are applied to the bill including missing credits for any previous months. This information is provided not only on the websites for all carriers but it's also in any information that you signed when you made your purchase.
Service for AT&T and Verizon for the first month includes more than one month's service, activation fees on all new lines of service, and the auto-pay and paperless billing credits are not deducted until your first bill is paid automatically and with paperless billing.
This information was also in your paperwork or verbally conveyed to you, depending on how you signed up.
AT&T is slightly cheaper.
Returning the phone will require a $55 restock fee which is deducted from any sales tax refund you might be due.
Before you make a knee-(Edited per community guidelines) reaction of going back to Verizon, decide whether or not the service itself works as expected, is at least equal or better to what you received with Verizon.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. There are more than enough experienced customers who can attest to the information I have provided for both Verizon and AT&T

You are fake and false news. You are an example of AT&T corruption.

Dude....just because you don't LIKE the answer doesn't mean the answer is wrong (re: fake/false news).

Dude, the answer, like yours, is incorrect. Go bother your family and leave the adults alone.

I realized the original poster has been rude more than once, and perhaps requires proof.

T-Mobile does some sort of funky proration which makes absolutely no sense but I guess it works for them.

@MikeMac987
Last chance.
You have on more than one occasion been given correct information by members of this forum and your response has been rude because you don't like the reply. Service providers in the United States pretty much all have similar operating policies. Your last unpleasant interaction was because your voicemail messages we're no longer available from your Verizon service. This is standard.
As is the first billing and promotional credits.
