Does ATT allow an individual to reserve a previous leased number?

I had a specific number, under contract, and lost that contract due to temporary life circumstances.

Would I be able to call and specifically reserve the number when it comes out of contract/available?

Idk how the numbers and all work for what's where or whatever.. but to be frank, I am a bit dyslexic and still cannot forget one of the only numbers I could actually remember without literally digging thru my phone.

Intelligence comes with a heavy price? :P
