AT&T representative

Today I went into AT&T store to check on my plan since I received an email saying my plan was no longer being offered. So, I asked what my new charges be switching to their premium plan. He wouldn’t be able to see my charges if I didn’t provide him my driver’s license. Why? Never had to do this any place before. I provided reluctantly. He said my bill would be around $66 with my discounts plus my phone which I still had 3 payments left. I said okay let’s process it. He told me to open my up account and process on my phone because it would be faster. Which I did. Then I said why does it say my bill will be $98. He said that’s not your final bill because they need to apply your discounts. I asked for this in writing which he said he could provide.I will be waiting to see my bill. Now if I traded my phone in on a new phone I’d receive $700 credit on the new $800 phone. I was going to pay off the3 payments left on the phone I traded in and would get a new phonei13 for $100. But, I couldn’t pay it off. I had to finance $100 for 36 months which came to $2 and change. Granted no interest but another way to lock you into a contract even tho the say up front no contracts. Why do they make it difficult for the customer and the poor representative trying to get customers to stay with AT&T. What a way to run a busy. I feel bad for the kid having to work there with little to no authority to provide customer satisfaction.

because he need confirmation you were who you said you are

thats how the trade in program works, you can pay it off early but lose the discount and credits

hes correct the billing summary is before discounts and promotions which dont start until the 3rd billing cycle  and your first bill will be much which will include activation fees of 35 per phone, one month of full service and a prorated partial month

Retail Store or Corporate Store? If it was a Retail Store some of them will say just about anything to make a sale or not disclose fully all of the conditions. There really aren't any contracts other than if you purchase a phone on installments. Then your "contract" is the installment plan.
