ATT phone insurance is a complete scam ripoff

I have had AT&T for years I pay them $300 a month or more any given month for 6 phone lines I recently got my son A new phone that just came out That he wanted I purchased the insurance like I do on all my phones and The same day it I got the phone it was stolen from a local Walmart Out of my car in the parking lot I did not have the SIM card in the phone anymore because I want my son to be able to use the line but not the phone in tell there was a case which I ordered from Amazon so since the phone was stolen without the SIM card in it in which day didn't put the SIM card in it it was just in the Box they're refusing to cover my claim I am seriously considering contacting a (Edited per community guidelines) on this situation and canceling all of my business with This company

Be aware they say your paying to insure your fifty cent sim card not the phone it goes into

You can contact whoever you want, Asurion is correct to deny the claim.

Insurance is provided by Asurion, the same company that sells insurance through Verizon, T-Mobile, and almost every other carrier.
If you buy an electronic on Amazon, and choose to buy the protection plan, that is also from Asurion.

There are few companies that provide insurance on mobile devices. But the one thing they have in common is the requirement the cell phone must be the device that is recently or currently active on the line that is insured, right up to the moment the device is lost, stolen, or damaged.

So if you remove your SIM card from a broken device, and move it to a different phone, you are no longer insuring the broken device, you are insuring the device used on that line.
This is how Asurion prevents fraudulent claims.

In your case, the phone is never activated or used on the line, so it's not covered.
Purchasing a new phone, and then having it stolen before you can actually use it, reeks of fraud to Asurion.
Doesn't matter if you are just an unfortunate victim of circumstances. (this is why you never leave valuables in your car)

Ok well in that case shouldn't att of put the sim in the phone before leaving the store or advise you of this when they ask if you want the protection

That would activate the new phone, shutting service off on the previous phone. And it still would have no usage on the network.

You put it in your purse and take it with you.

Do you have any idea how many creeps hang out in parking lots just waiting for people to put small valuable packages in their trunk and then go to dinner? You made yourself a target.

Look I used to work for Att as a sales rep and I know that when you sell them the ins you dont tell them details and for 2 what's to stop someone from putting a sim card from a line without a new phone to someone else's phone and then make the claim

@Lorischierholt then you should know the limits of insurance and that Asurion is not at&t, and is the same insurance provider other carriers use.

Why do you think Asurion requires your account info? They are looking for fraud, and your exact kind of claim smells fishy.

Seriously. which do you want to paint yourself? knowedgable ex-employee? Or clueless customer?

I just had to replace broken Moto Z2 and they(ATT/ Asurion) send me a Moto Razr which is a flip phone that costs 1,344.00. I didn't want a flip phone that bends a screen and asked for something else less expensive or advanced to replace my Z2. They said they could send nothing else. And told me I  could buy a phone on my own and submit proof of purchase

They would send me a check for 329.00

I thought ok I can do that, but they would also charge me a deductable of 112.00

 Instead of sending a check for 217.00.  So I paid 16.00 a month for six years to get 217.00 or a 1344.00 phone I didn't want.  So I paid over 1150.00 to get 217.00 from them.

No a good investment. Skip the insurance and buy your self a new phone when it breaks.

It cheaper and a whole lot less frustrating.

Pretty much what I've been saying since 2014.  I don't use installments.  I often buy Androids that are a few months old, but hardly used, and absolutely not insurance.  Bank the money and use it to buy a replacement
