Smart TV setup
Do I need a receiver box for my Samsung Smart TV. If it helps it is powered by Tizen and is a 2020 model.

To join the consensus:
For full U-verse TV functionality (especially whole-home DVR), every TV must have a Receiver. For a TV that isn't used a lot, the FireTV/U-verse App (in combination with some other channel apps) might get you by, but no watching recordings from the DVR that way.

Not necessarily, if I'm correctly remembering how I recently set something up
U-Verse has an app for Amazon Firestick. I *think* this app has the capability to view channels, but it may not include any sort of DVR capabilities.

I just got a new Firestick and there is no UVERSE app....at least not one that Alexa could find.
I had to do some searching but there is a Uverse app.
Alexa, you have disappointed me.

Be careful. The firetv app is limited in what channels it has and doesn’t follow the same native user experience the settop box has. No access to DVR functionality either.
