That should be fine.  I think I have the same one, provided by Att.  

If rebooting the gateway and settop boxes doesn’t clear up the issue, I’d try factory resetting the gateway as next step.

You mean 1208, yes?   No channel should freeze.  Is your settop box directly connected to gateway or do you have other network equipment in the path?

Than you for your query.  I have a Netgear 8 port switch between.  Model GS108 router.

The problem has magically disappeared.  This morning both my wireless connected tvs were out.  "no signal"  had to reboot wireless router and both tv boxes.  All working well now.  Thanks for the help.

It’s not so much magic as it is a fact of this equipment to need rebooting or resetting occasionally.   I will further add that keeping this hardware on battery backup reduces the need to restart the system but not completely.  Just yesterday I had to force a restart on my DVR.
