Can't Watch Local Channels On App

I'm using the latest version of the u-verse app on my android phone, so far I can't seem to be able to watch my local channels like I can while watching tv. Is that normal when using the app ?

Thanks,

David

I believe local channel availability on the mobile app depends on the channel owner.  It's a negotiation point that can raise/lower the per-subscriber rate paid to the channel owner.

I get my local NBC but no others. It must depend on the market.

The Uverse app has what I would call "limited channel availability".  Just compare what is in your package to what is available on the app.

It seems like the users are kind of getting ripped off so to speak, of course it would be nice to be able to watch the same channels on the app that we can on our TV's. Thanks for the replies

I don’t think this is unique to Uverse.  Comcast is the same except for the fact they own NBC and have leverage over them.   ABC for instance doesn’t even stream local over their own app in my area!  I suppose it’s a way of keeping OTA relevant.

In St. Louis it does not seem that any of the local channels can be watched through the U-Verse app on my iPhone.

I have to use the regular NBC app if I wish to watch NBC on my device. I'm not sure how I'd watch any other broadcast channel live on mobile.

Note that the NBC app will geolocate to the nearest NBC affiliate, as if you were watching a TV. It won't automatically go to your local affiliate.
