Does HBO/Max use my hotspot allowance?

My plan includes HBO/Max. I need to know if it uses my allowed hotspot data which is 30 gigs per month when I watch it on my desktop computer.

Yes, if you are using your hotspot.

You can use ATT WatchTV app on an iPad to watch most HBO/MAX content without date for the video itself.  However, “sponsored data” does count towards your hotspot data.  I don’t know what “sponsored data” is though being that I had 27 gigs of it this month yet I never watch shows with commercials.  I have the feeling that there is some hinkiness with what ATT is considering sponsored data.
