Wireless Access Point (Cisco VEN401-AT): admin credentials / reset to factory default

I have a Cisco VEN401-AT wireless access point serving a second DVR receiver. I am trying to optimize my home network and wanted to review the configuration of the wireless AP, but don't seem to have the admin credentials. If I reset it to factory defaults, can I just follow the initial setup instructions, or was this device pre-configured when U-Verse sent it to me?

Hey, @OblateSpheroid. We'd be glad to help with your Wireless Access Point.

Just to clarify, what are you wanting to access the access point to do? When you're sent the WAP (Wireless Access Point) there's no need to make any changes to the configuration, it's already set to pair with your receiver as long as you set up the WAP properly. If you were to factory reset it, you would probably just have to set it up again according to that support link.

We look forward to your response!

@ATTHelp thanks for the reply. No specific reason other than I like to know what's going on inside my firewall. I'm trying to optimize my wifi coverage and saw that the Cisco AP broadcasts on a 5GHz band which overlaps with some weaker signals from my neighbors. I don't think it's impacting the performance but I was curious if I could switch it to a clearer band.

Since it's working now I obviously don't want to break it or change anything I couldn't reverse. So really the only question is, if I were to do a factory reset, would I be able to set it back up according to the original instructions, and not have to send it back to AT&T etc.? In other words, when it was first shipped was it set to factory defaults, or was it pre-programmed by AT&T?

Thanks,

Daniel
