Losing recordings
Help! Every time the power flickers we lose access to our recordings. I have to reboot everything in a precise sequence (broadband connection, then router, then DVR) to get them back. Router is NVG599 - of course w/o a battery. I read here that battery only backs up voice.
Any ideas?

You are correct. Battery back up is for phone service only.
It has been my experience that power outages and AT&T equipment do not play nice together. If your equipment does not come back after an outage, your only option is to reboot each piece of equipment starting with the gateway, then the DVR and then STBs if necessary.

Bummer. I'm going to try putting both the gateway and the router behind a UPS to see if that makes any difference. I live in a neighborhood of mature trees and lately we're having thunderstorms just about every day, so it shouldn't take long to see if this rectifies the problem..
Thanks!

I was not home for the last storm related power outage. By the time I returned home, all of my AT&T equipment was up and running. So I'm not sure how long it took to get back online by itself.

You're lucky. On our end, power outages result in loss of access to recordings and the inability to record. Gonna see if a couple of UPSs will resolve this.

As best I can tell, the UPSs did the trick. We've had one small power flicker - but enough of one that recordings would have been gone - and the system rode through it unscathed.
