How in the dickens do I get the latest DVR?

OK, here goes. I have Internet 1000. Great speeds too, 940-960 Up and Down. I have the Pace IPH 8005 DVR. Not a slouch but there is better out there, especially for fiber. I have twice requested a IPH 8110 and both times I ended up with equipment from a decade ago, a Arris/Motorola VIP 2550 and the last one was a Cisco IPN 4320. Sooo, it is going back too. Would much rather keep the IPH8005 over that junk. Do equipment replacement personnel have absolutely no control over what the warehouse ships out? I would rather get a "We have no 8110 in stock at the moment" rather being shipped 10 year old low cap and low performance DVR's. This should be a real easy fix....

I'm just curious, fiber or no fiber, excluding capacity (500GB for iph8005 vs 1TB for iph8010) , define "better"?

Don't think they do.  Order sent to warehouse.  Someone grabs whatever is next available off a shelf.  If you want a tech dispatch ($99 I think) you get whatever the tech happens to have in his truck.

Better meaning yes the larger HD, the extra tuner and read somewhere that the processor or chipset had been improved and better remote/menu response.. I actually don't think that ATT has anything in DVR equipment that utilizes the immense bandwidth of their fiber network but I sure would like to have the fastest, biggest and betterest of whatever they have out there.

Even when in a chat request I specifically request that model? It is sad that in 2019 I feel like I have to chase down a service truck on the streets just to see if he MIGHT have the latest version of their equipment on board, but since I am getting nowhere using the normal channels of replacement/upgrading I guess I will have to...

I said excluding HD size.  And even if it has a faster chipset (not sure where you got that info) I seriously doubt you would see any difference in response time to the remote signals.  As for wanting the "fastest, biggest and betterest of whatever they have out there" we would all like that for any piece of hardware we have but we can't always get what we want.  And if they are out of stock, they are out of stock.

You would be shocked at the differences between the terrible equipment and the slightly better equipment.  If you watch a lot of tv the old boxes will drive you crazy waiting for them to do things.

Not to mention as a fiber customer he's losing out on getting 6 streams by not having the correct equipment.  AT&T's system of "refurbishment" is a cruel joke by some manager who claims to be saving the company money.  meanwhile to actually fix a problem requires at&t waste money 2 day fedexing worthless broken boxes box ways a couple of times before the customer gets one that works good enough, while being forced to spend hours on the phone with the philippines useless call center.  Then at&t wonders why they are losing millions of customers.

If they are out of stock then just say that, stopping sending out junk 10 year old boxes. And ffs the IPH 8110 has been out since 2013 and they cant supply upon request in 2019? Something is wrong there and no amount of excuses will make that make sense.

No new uverse equipment has been made for several years. Uverse is dead and you won’t see new equipment until att starts using a standard stb for dtv and uverse tv. Keep what you have and be satisfied. Call center personnel have no control over what equipment is shipped.
