Ghost Images

I recently insalled a Vizio V505-JO9 television to my existing UVerse setup. The images on the screen associated with the Vizio Home and associated screens are crystal clear. After programming the UVerse remote to operate the televion, the Uverse images all seem to have a ghost appearance, while the Vizio images remain crystal clear. My television is connected via coaxial cable. Would connecting via HDMI improve the Uverse images?

Yes, using an HDMI (or even Component) cables would make a huge difference over using coaxial cable from the receiver to the TV.  Using Coax, the programming is being downscaled to 480i (from whatever it came in as), modulated using the old NTSC standard, transferred to the TV where the process is reversed.

Note that good HDMI cables are not necessarily expensive, nor are expensive HDMI cables necessarily good.

Everyone has various opinions on what to buy and what to stay away from.

I've heard that gold-plated and Monster are two types to avoid, as they're overpriced/overhyped. NewEgg.com used to be *the* place to buy cables, as they were significantly less expensive there than most other outlets. Nowadays, this may not necessarily be the case.
