DVR Replacement
Our DVR is having problems.....it started by skipping. While watching a recorded show, the video would all of a sudden skip forward, maybe a few second, maybe to the end of the show. We did as recommended in the trouble shooting, unplugging for 10 seconds, plugging back in and waiting for three dots, then repeating that process three times. Same issue continued. A little while later the display became pixilated and the response time to commands from the remote became i n c r e d i b l y slow. We went back to unplug for 10 seconds, etc....which seems to have resolved the pixilation issue for now, but still have some delay in response time and till skipping forward on recorded shows.
How do I coordinate the return and replacement of the DVR unit?

Call CS. A replacement will be sent for a self-install. You have 60 days to return the old one via UPS/FedEx.
You will lose your recordings but not your schedule.

Before you trade in that DVR, one idea is to put it on another TV that has a wired connection available to it.
It's probably the DVR, although it could be the wires. You wouldn't know for sure until you tested it on another TV.

One other point is you’re trading what you have for another used box and will lose all recordings, which would be unfortunate if the actual problem is elsewhere.
If the internal harddrive is failing, you can usually hear some type of repetitive clicking noise.

This is why cloud DVRs are advantageous in some regards. The downside is that they're usually extremely limited OR they delete shows automatically after X number of days.
