DVR Deleting some shows overnight
So, I was just asked by my toddler to watch Lilo and stitch, sure enough i go to the dvr and am about to start Lilo and Stitch, only to realize it's not there anymore.... my little one has two favorite movies, Lilo and stitch, and frozen. Needless to say, all kinds of stuff can get deleted off my dvr and i've probably never noticed, but can you imagine which creek i'm up with no paddle this morning, when not just one, but both movies are gone!! Upon further inspection of my shows, i've also noticed that my recordings of Zoo went from 4 episodes to 2 and there are several other shows that are missing episodes?!? so some things my dvr completey deleted overnight and some, it just picked episodes and deleted.
Now, i've read through some of the questions on here, and there was no power outage or anything last night. I've also noticed before while "binge" watching an entire season of a show. I would miss 2 or 3 episodes. I just wrote it off as interference with another show and it not recording. But i now suspect that it's actually my DvR deciding what i should and shouldn't watch.
I mean don't get me wrong. I'm probably just as sick of lilo and stitch (And omg not to mention Frozen, luckily my little one hasn't realized it's not an option either....yet) as my DVR is, but looking at her face while i'm trying to explain to her, that our dvr clearly has inhabited an AI which has decided that Lilo is no more..... well, it'll probably have me ordering the movie online somewhere later today......luckily for me, the search let me know it's not up for viewing/recording anytime soon. (Which reminds me, when i first checked the search this morning it kept giving me an error, until i restarted the dvr a few times.) So, while last night i went to bed and i had a nice and well rounded 82 hours of hd dvr space left. I'm now the proud and unhappy owner of 115 hours of hd recording space.

@Buttonsmom Unluckily that only seems to crop up once and a while, know I've never had it as I reboot the DVR every week to speed it up and forstall any problems.
Generally that can occur when power goes out and the power comes on and off a few times. When it occurs it can raise the failed reboot counter to perform a Disaster Recovery.
This would erase all recordings, but re-format the disk and re-download all the software. 😉

@Buttonsmom Do you have a series record set up? If so, go into options and see how many keep recordings you have it set to. If you have it set to 1 it will delete the previous show whether you have watched it or not.
I know my DVR mysteriously set some of my series recordings to keep 1 show until I figured out what was happening and changed it back to keep until space needed.

Thanks for some of your answes. Definitely no power outages, i also keep my dvr and the rest of my stuff on fully charged apc backups (hurricane seasons will teach ya a thing or two) which also lets me know if there were any surges and none whatsoever. Now as far as the series recording, yes, i keep many lol. and all set to keep until i delete. The episodes that i'm missing aren't like all but one in a season. Some of these are entire seasons, and while one minute it said i have 12 episodes, the next minute i have episode 1,2,5.7.8.9.11 left. It's just the strangest thing. I have no doubt it's buggy software, but it's non the less, annoying.
And after a "short" trip to walmart this afternoon, i'm now up to 127 hours of hd space......yes, buggy software or my St. bernard has learned how to use those industrial sized nails of his on my remote as a payback for not getting his favorite snacks this week. I'm still leaning towards an AI inside my dvr, which if found could possible help me with my uverse bill for the chunky 450 bundle plan lol.
All kidding aside, do i just keep reseting/ rebooting/ this machine in hopes, that it gets its buggy software out the door, or do i just call uverse and tell them to replace the buggy possesed thing?
