AT&T Reward Cards Expired!
Hello!
I am writing this email for the 2nd time - this time I am saving a copy and a screen shot. I wrote this exact email a few weeks ago and submitted it, now I can't find a single trace of it on the support forums so I am going to try again.
I signed up for U-verse and received my reward cards in the mail within the promised timeframe. One of the cards had $100, the other $50. I tried using the $100 card within a couple of weeks of receiving it at a restaurant. I handed the card to the waitress and she returned it and told me that it was not accepted. Our bill was around $60, so I know the $100 card should have processed with no problem. I had her try again and again - no luck, the card was declined.
I tried using the same card again several times at stores and restaurants, all with no success. I signed onto the website to check the card balance to make sure that there were funds on the cards. Both of the cards displayed the exact amount I was expecting - $50 and $100, so I knew that was not the issue.
I tried using the $100 card at a store and finally had good luck with it. It processed for (from what I can remember) around $60.
I tried using the remainder at several different establishments, and never had success again.
During this time, I called AT&T customer service 2-3 times in hopes to find out why my card was being declined and was never truly helped. I was told that there was no customer service number to call for the rewards card and that I had to seek help online.
I posted my question in the community forum a few weeks ago, and as I mentioned, it is now NOWHERE to be found on this forum.
The last and final time that I tried to use my $100 card on 4/30/16, it was declined again! The clerk told me that it was declined due to an "expired date on the card". I looked and sure enough, the date of expiration on both of my cards was 4/30! I received my cards at the end of January and they already expired at the end of April without having used even half of the funds, even when trying to use the card on the DAY of the expiration date. I started Googling and found this forum with others having the same issues as myself.
I had plans for the funds and the reward was one of the main reasons I signed up for the U-verse service to begin with, and now I cannot even use my cards because the expiration date. I would greatly appreciate if someone could look into this for me and possible extend the expiration date with the remaining funds.

@vilistjepic Yes, they do expire quickly, they told you so on the paper the card was glued to, to spend it quickly. I know, last one I got emphasized the quick expiration date.
Don't know if trying to use as Debit card, had to be used as Credit card only.
Some users have used Visa gift cards bought by the reward cards for no expiration. 😉

You are not alone many other customers have had the same frustrations with these cards.
It seems like a bit of a bait and switch on the part of AT&T because you are hooked by the draw of the cards, but once you try and actually acquire or use them there is almost always some kind of issue. Like any rebate type program buyer beware!

@ham3843 If it's a scam, why did I get all 4 I was entitled to over my Uverse years and use up all of them quickly following the warnings on the sheet the reward came glued to?

@ham3843 None of the users ever come here when they get installed (1 did recently), only 3 months late and totally expired.
None ever look at the terms and see this: Reward Card Redeption Required. Now to me that means you have to do something, not call CS, to get the reward card.
For me, I registered at Utalk the day I got installed, found out about the reward card routine and then had ATT cancel my $200 check reward more than 20 times. Eventually involved a RC supervisor whose 1st words were 'something's wrong here'.
She checked her deals, found mine and said she'd check this out and hear back in a week, yeah right. So, one week later I get a call from ATT, the check just went out in that's day's mail (should have gone out in previous day's mail, but) and got it 9-11-2008.
